I know the orientation of the land I hunt.....and I just go to weather.com. I can get a 10 day forecast, there. I check it up until I'm heading out. I only use it to see where to start, that day.

Weather.com is the greatest, then just knowing what it does in your hunting area. Best way to learn what wind does is put a little dye in a small creek and watch what the water does, its a real eye opener.

good advise in the first couple posts...

I do the same, but I'm ALWAYS checking the wind on stand...never know when it will switch, or swirl...I use this from HS...."Windicator"

I also use the windicator. Also I went to the craft department of our local wal-mart and bought a small piece of yarn. Then i unraveld small pieces of it and attached one to my bow so i can also check wind direction when he is coming in as well as while in the stand. An unscented cotton ball works just as well. just pull a piece off and let it go.

I look at flags on my way to my hunting spot.

Cattail seeds work marvels, get them in the late summer, let them dry and put the seeds in film canisters. drop a few from your stand and watch them fly
