Afternoon folks,
Am new to the sport of bowhunting and after trying to educate myself from various books from the library and handling dozens of bows at a few archery shops in my area, have decided upon the Buckmaster G2 compound bow to begin my new love affair, Was wondering as to your opinions on this particular module for those of you that have experience with this bow or knows of someone who does? Your input and thoughts are greatly appreciated! Thanks.

The thing is if you have gone to several pro shops I am suprised that they havent let you shoot the different bows to see which one feels the best in your hands. Before I got my bow a couple years ago my local pro had me shoot several different bows to see how I liked them and which felt best in my hands. Then I decided on a Martin Phanton Mag he tured it for me and set it up. I would recomend going basck to the pro shops and ask if you could shoot different ones. I'm envious of all the people that have archery shops that actually let folks try their wares before purchasing. Everyone that I have gotten advice from and read from a few bowhunting books all admonish to try out a bow before buying. The idea sounds really good but it seems no shops support this. The predominant reason that I have been given is for insurance liability reasons. I don't know if this is a BS cop-out or the truth but leaves us buyers going on feel and looks alone. Hell, most of the shops that I went to had all of the strings tie-wrapped down to the risers (to prevent dry firing I suppose)and were even resistant to letting me get a feel for the cam let-off and draw characteristics after requesting permission to draw and let down easy.
The archery shop that will set me up is very small and handles much more in the way of fishing tackle and supplies. The owner, who I've known for years, is an avid bowhunter, but relies mostly on his fishing and taxidermy in his business. Hell sells the G2's and has vouched for them, however, he did not have one in left hand (60-70#) Because he does not sell a high volume at all, his pricing from his distributors is not the best (he readilly admits it) I happened to spend some quality time on the web and found a wholesale distributor willing to sell me this model that is around 150.00 less than what it retails for. When I ran the numbers by the archery shop owner, he told me to book it. I plan on buying all the bow accessories and arrows from this fella on account of him agreeing to help out a new bowhunter with a bow which was not purchased from his shop. He's a gentleman and knows that this act of good sportsmanship and kindness will be repayed in many ways down the road.
