Default Some people!

A couple of years ago we had a local outfitter that got busted for shooting 3 bucks for some of his clients. From what I have been told these were really good bucks. He shot these deer with a rifle. He was caught and they took his vehicle and all his weapons. He also lost his hunting rights for I believe 5 years. In my opinion he should never be allowed to hunt again. I know for a fact that he has been helping his wife set stands and hauling hunters out to there hunting locations. Would that not be considered hunting even though he is not actually sitting in the stand? I don't think he should even be able to help with getting ready for hunting season cause that would be participating in the hunt. I have been stopped by our game warden and he asked me if I had seen this fella out hunting and I told him I hadn't then after I drove away I wished I had told him what I have seen. What do you guys think I shoulda done?

Not sure what the game laws are in Iowa but I would let that game warden or any game wardenknow about this.

If there's something unethical going on and you let it slide, Your just as guilty. Guys who do things like that make it harder for the rest of us who hunt with a good head and don't pull illegal crap. Trying to make a descent name for deer hunters is hard enough with all the poachers around.

Yes I agree with you king about the unethical point of view but I don't see where I did anything unethical because I didn't say something. I am not sure if that was what you meant but it sure sounded that is what you were saying.

Man that's a tough call. Legally, I think he himself would have to be in the pursuit of game with weapon in hand to be classified as a "hunter". Sady, Guys like this are "free to move about the country" conducting any activity with the exception of those they are excluded from. Hanging a tree stand is not hunting. He could claim to be doing it for "wildlife viewing", etc. Of course we know otherwise, but there is very little we can do to stop him. Stupid is as stupid does...it is going to be hard to change this guy unless he is caught redhanded. Good luck...talk to your warden and let him know how you feel. Maybe the laws can be changed to more specifically address these issues.

If the guy is doing nothing wrong he does not have anything to worry about. No warden will make an arrest based on what you have said, but, he might pay some special attention to the dude to see if he is doing something he should not. You definately would not be doing anything WRONG to tell the warden the truth and let him sort it out.

just he is hanging stands driving people out there andecven if he was sitting there they can not keep him from doing it . He can't hunt butin no place have i ever hured of them being able to keep you from earning a living . I do know that if a person doesnot have a tag or hunting licence they can still help soemonehang stands scout and even sit thereand hunt . I do not see anyting unethicalwith imhangingstands forhis wifeand or clients . I do see a big proplem with him killing deer for his clients .
