October Lull

For the second year in a row, my records are showing a sharp decrease in the number of deer sightings between October 7 and 13.
It may be attributable to a "lull," but I would also attribute it to the deer actually feeling the hunting pressure and reacting accordingly.

Up in NY our season dont start until the second weekend of October so if there is a lull we dont get the pleasure of expirenceing it, but i would have to say that judging by my trail cam activity that there had been a heck of a dropoff in the last few weeks compared to late summer and early september. I would have to say that there might not be a lull but definatly something going on.

I don't believe much in a lull. I don't usually start tearing them up until around Oct. 9th. Then the damage begins. Crops in Illinois slow you down early. Here's aneat trick during your "lull", sit on an exit trail as a corn field is being cut. You'll probably see every deer in your hunting area.

One of my best times to hunt is in your so called lull. I usually cant hunt the rut because i usually shoot my buck in early to mid october in Central Wisconsin. Heres the last 4 years. Nice 8pt October 6th, 9pt (126)october 11th, 13pt (147)october 8th. Maybe its luck but i dont think so...
