For the record, GR8....I hunt exactly where I want to. I'm heading to PA in 2 weeks to hunt and have some good times with some forum friends. I hunted the Eastern side of our state on one hunt, last year. I'm hunting with a forum member in KS, next year.....and possibly going to SC to hunt with another HNI'er in the late season. I'm also going with several forum members to WY to hunt in '09.

But...for what I TRULY love.....I hunt exactly where and how I want to......close to home.

I can't make a difference on 2,500 acres. I "think" me and my neighbors CAN make a difference on roughly a square mile of land. It's not just about what I'm doing on my "side". We talk all the time about what everybody is taking. Each person has different things they want to accomplish in hunting. Your and mine differ. No biggie....and I didn't take your post the wrong way. We have different agendas.

I am just curious here.... I would just like to know what you are thinking is all.

Is it that you are only interested in hunting that one plot near your home because you don't have any other locall ands to hunt or you have no interest in hunting any other local grounds at all?

I think I edited my post before you saw it, Scott. If that edit doesn't answer your question.....let me know. I'll answer anything.

I have no problem with the guy coming onto this site and asking for help on his tracking situation. There have been several times so far this season where guys have came on here, asked for advice on what to do in their situation, and the results have been good. My problem doesn't even really lie with Jeff's post, its more that his post seems to be a story more than a tool for him to learn more. TO ME, it seems like he welcomes the positive comments, but when somebody comments on it about how he could have done something differently then he gets defensive. Personally I don't see how much can be learned from these posts, honestly, it just seems more like a story than a tool. The only real point that could be derived from the latest post is that shooting 2 deer from stand in the same day without recovering the first is a bad idea, and alot of hunters won't have that opportunity anyways, whether it be over legal issues or just the chances of them seeing two shoot-able deer in that time frame.

Thirdly....I think there's a contingency that don't want to hear of hunters' mishaps being aired in public. I stated a long time ago that I didn't think this was a good idea for the masses. I was the first to say I would chronicle my shots.....and I thought it would be interesting to see (for many). The "less-than" favorable results, so far, might not be what we want people outside these forums seeing. But....are those people really out there?

[/blockquote]

It is not only hunters looking at this forum...lots of non and anti hunters reading this too. So if it should not have been for the masses or for non-hunters to read, then it should not have been on this PUBLIC forum. I like the threads, and don't mind the mishaps at all....but if you seriously think it should not be for themasses, then this was the wrongvenue.
I agree with this. Honestly, I have been around here for a long time and have heard countless times about how non-hunters and anti's visit this site regularly and we have to keep a good and responsible image for these people. Many of the same people who are on here condoning these threads are the same people who have repeatedly said that these "lost deer" posts were portraying a bad image to these non-hunting visitors. In the past it has even been taken to the point where people questioned whether or not these posts followed the HNI rules about non jeopardizing hunting or the image of hunters.

As far as why alot of the locals havn't commented on this... I believe that alot of this has to do with you Rob. Everybody knows that you and Jeff are good friends. You are one of the "top guys" for the board and you are well respected across the message board. Everybody also knows that you were a moderator and now administration, and I believe that alot of guys fear posting their comments because of that.

I call"foul" on that, BM. As long as the forum rules aren't compromised....people (ANYONE) are free to say what they want. Let's not say the "fear of being banned" has censored anyone. Thats not remotely close.

GMMAT, Was the congrats to Buck Magnet sarcasm? I took it that way and I believe so did a few others on here. The timing of it made it appear that way to me.

I took it that way Charlie but I wasn't going to make a big deal about it. I have saw several pot shots about me taking that buck, but I made the decision to shoot it and I put the deer down. I am happy with him, and thats all that matters.

Jeff, I never mentioned anything about being banned, I simply stated that you and Robs friendship may prevent people from posting their thoughts. Personally I give Rob alot more credit than taking to that kind of thinking, but others may not.

Yea I have to agree some what with Jeff on this one.
If you are gun shy about posting something and getting banned reread the rules and if you aren't breaking any hit submit.
I've had posts deleted ,moved and some just edited and I have been banned just once (Justin was having a bad hair day)in many years.

I think about half of you just lack the nads to post what you really feel & the other half spends their day sucking up to poster's they don't even knowso those guyswon't jump all over ya for posting something dumb.[8D]

So what are you Nadless or a suck up?

My work here is done.

I hadn't congratulatd him, yet NOR said anything to him in some time. What can be sarcastic about congratulating someone on their deer? I say "congrats on the doe"...."congrats on your 8-pointer" etc....all the time. I honestly thought he shot a 3 pointer....and I congratulated him. I apologized in the same thread for getting the point count wrong.

Ya know, though.....that has nothing to do with this.

Neither atlasman nor Mr Longbeard would accept the criticism as Jeff does. Jeff is in his 3rd year bowhunting and welcomes criticism
Well if it was a shot this wouldn't have been exactly true now would it.
