Default Making the switch from "low top" boots to knee highs?

I'm in the market for a new set of boots before season comes in. I've always had the 10" highor so boots. Well, after reading some reviews of the Muck boots...I got to thinking that I wanted to try them. Went to the site (never seeing these boots before) and see they are knee-high boots. I'm not too sure how comfortable it will be for a boot to come up over my calf. Just seems like it wouldn't feel right.

Anyone have any suggestions/thoughts? I want to order something before tomorrow because my $25 off Cabelas coupon expires then.

Right now I'm rocking some older Irish Setters that have the rubber bottom and leather uppers. I like a soft-soled boot.

I don't have Muck, but I have Browning rubbers that are calf high. They're perfectly comfortable, but I would suspect they will feel different than your low riders....

cabelas has some of their own branded ones that I've had really good luck with. I usually go through a pair a year or I patch them up and try for two. But, these cabelas ones (400 grain thinsulate) are in their 3rd year and not a crack! Only problem is it's impossible to stalk with them. the tops of them make a bit of noise as I walk. There's little straps to tighten them up, but you can't tighten them enough (i have bird legs).

oh, i should mention that they are the most comfortable rubber boots I've ever worn. They rock! Never tried muck though, heard good things.

Is there really a need for knee high boots if I don't even plan on wading in the swamps. Occasionally, I may walk a creek or two.

They are sure nice when walking through wet weeds, and they help keep the chiggers off you ankles. Necessary? No. Nice? Yepper.

I gotta say after wearing my Muck boots tonight for the third time, those things are more comfortable than my Nikes that I wear every day. They are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. I was a Lacrosse fan, but I'm glad I made the switch.

They wouldn't happen to be the Wood Max's, would they? Thats the ones I checking out. Soft sole?

They are the Woody Max boots. Can't remember off hand if the sole was soft, I think the uppers are kinda rigid, but maybe the sole does give some. They're out in the truck now or I'd check. The guy at the store I bought them said his were so comfortable, he wears them around the house. I can see why. On the other hand, a friend of mine said he tried on a pair and they didn't fit him right. I think they're the best boots I've ever worn.

I am also a ex-lacrosse man. They make good boots no doubt, but gosh these muck boots are comfy. They are unreal. I've had mine for a few weeks now. The first weekend I had them I went to a local WMA and walked over 9.5 miles in two days. No soreness or foot pain like I used to get. I can honestly say I could have walked more if I wanted. The tall rubber boots don't bother me at all. I actually wish I could get some that were a little taller. (I'm long legged)
