I think a lot of times, the deer gets gamey tasting the longer you leave them whether it's hot or cold (not field dressed). Yes, the meat will spoil with higher temps. I shot a deer once that we backed out on overnight. It was a pancreas hit, but I didn't know at the time. The deer was probably dead within minutes. My friend heard the deer crash down a slope but we didn't go to check because I dodn't like the shot at all. It was bout 60 degrees overnight. The good thing was that it was a damp area where the deer lay and it was in the shade. The butcher said the meat was fine, but man it sure didn't taste good and it sure didn't smell good. Anyway, if it were to happen again, I think I would either have the whole deer made into sausage, hotdogs, etc, or donate it to the food pantry (only of course if it was OK'd by the butcher). Just my thoughts.

thanks for the help guys, but its not my deer. its my best friends brothers. it would be his first deer and on his birthday. my best friend said that the deer ducked the arrow but it still hit the deer. the arrow broke in half and the blood was pink and red. i say it maybe a leg it. they can't go out till tomorrow after school. you think it will be good?
Just wondering why you would think the deer was hit in the leg if it ducked the arrow? - Just trying to picture that.

Bad. Too warm. Unlees as Rob pointed out the deer hangs on most of the night. I'll never leave another deer go in warm weather.
