I wouldn't fence it... first off, I'd buy the land in an area that's difficult to get to... maybe only by helicopter or something... the only people that would even consider poaching that land would be worthy hunters to begin with... of course i'd post it anyway and I'd patrol it with my quad/horses... I'd try to get land bordering some kind of national park and try to pick up somewhere along the lines of 2000+ acres... might even go as far as having a hunting/fishing lodge on the property (high end/big dollar stuff) somewhere... having an extremely exclusive lodge would probably discourage poachers as well... as for my hunting... who knows, i'd buy a few smaller plots in various areas, like a couple hundred here and there depending on what I was wanting to hunt... but we're talkin about the dream here... reality says it would take to much time for me to manage and worry about... I'd probably just buy a home somewhere with 100+ acres and lease land in areas I wanted to hunt on a season by season basis...

Florida is where all the big deer are migrating.( I have this on good authority) So I would buy land there. No warty northern deer for me!

I'd hope that nobody's opinions on "high fence" would change simply because they had the resources to own property all of a sudden. There's a word for that.
BTW, you lottery winners aren't thinking big enough. A ranch in British Columbia with a lot more options than just plain ol whitetails...that's what I'm talking about

It would all decide on what I wanted to manage. I'm againts high fencing anything but around then 15-30 acres around the house. After that I think regular cattle fence would be all I would want......unless I decided to create about a 10,000 acre african game management area. Then of course I would have to do the high fences.
But all in all, I'm against high fences as you end up with captive genes that can be just as bad as good, if a disease comes through, and domestic herds are responsible for all the CWD in this area.

I would buy the biggest piece of land I could afford. At least 2000 acres or more to say 5000. I would not do the fence. Since no matter how big it is any trophy that comes out would be considered a pen raised deer to others. I would invest in large rack deer with good genetics and have them released on my land. And like GMATT said I would invest in a core area, then let others patrol and hunt the out skirts for me.
