Default stand set up and not with a lock

i set up my two person stand on privit land today and was going to chain it to the tree. But the owner insured me that i did not need to but was welcome to if i wished i had a chain but forgot my lock. so i was going to use to lag bolts i had. But just left it with out the chain because i did not wont to upset him bolting into the tree. Now after seeing two post on here i am worried.

god i hope that 100.00 i just spent is there when i go to hunt.

I even left my big costly chain setting under the stand dumb me

I also hunt all private land and did not lock them up,until not one but two stands have been stolen from two different spots, two years in a row, so now I put at least three locks on every stand.Think about It,you can buy three locks for 15$ and how much are your stands?Im sure they are more than 50 bucks apiece so get the locks and you won't have to worry!Or you'll find out the hard way like I did!

You could have said something like "Maybe not, but I have it with me so I'll just put it on."

My buddy had his two man ladder stand stolen last year off private property. It was chained and locked to the tree. The SOB's cut the whole tree down to steal his stand.

That's why I use a tree saddle.

If you build it, they will come! Lock them! Don't make it easy for the A holes!
