Default Most memorable day on stand??

Lets hear your most memorable day on stand this season.... Here is mine:

Its a cold sunny afternoon December 26, 2002. I grab my stand and bow and set off on a long walk to a thick dew berry ridge about half a mile away. The north wind is perfect for my set up. Im walking in and I hear some deer running. A nice tall and heavy 8pt runs about 3 does right by me. I grab my release and bow, nock an arrow and get ready in case they come back by... Here they come.. the buck stops at 25yds.... I draw aim and... MISS...25yds...How could I miss. I'm feeling down, so I decide to climb a tree right in this very spot. The afternoon is fairly uneventful, couple of does here,a small buck there. Then right before dark I hear the unmistakable sound of deer coming. I see a nice 8 pt trailing a doe about 100yds out. I grab my trusty Primos grunt call and grunt a few times... Here he comes, like he's on a string. He freezes up at about 40yds(outside my comfort zone). Several times he tries to walk away and go back to his doe, but every time he does I let out another grunt. He starts circling my tree, luckily for me I'm about 25ft up and the wind has died. He circles once and then comes to about 18yds. He enters my clearing and TWACK... About an hour later I'm standing over a fine bow buck. Great day, I'll never forget it.

My most memorable day in a treestand. I have 2. One was the worst experience I have ever had. I sat in my treestand for 4 hours. It was sprinkling when I got there and it was supposed to clear up. It just got worse. It rained harder and harder and the wind bout killed me. It was in the 30's and strong winds cut through me like a hot knife through butter. Im sittin in an oak tree about 15ft. up and that tree was a swayin like you wouldnt believe. I never saw one deer.

The other was just the opposite. It was still cold, actually it was colder, like in the teens. I face west out of this stand and the sun came up behind me. I couldnt help but to turn in my stand and sit facing north and look at the pinks, purples, 90 shades of blue, multi colored sparce clouds and listen to the sounds of nature and see the sun glisten off the frost. When the sun got to where most of the colors were gone I turned slowly back around and thanked God for what he had just allowed me to witness. I prayed and thanked Him for giving me the thought "ya know, I should get up at 3:00a.m. and get out in my stand tomorrow and freeze." I, at that moment knew EXACTLY why I continue to go out. I saw 3 does walking away from me about 300yds. away and then 2 more about 20min. later that followed them. I will NEVER forget that morning.

sounds like an awesome hunt. The most memorable day was my first buck with the bow. I'll never forget that, but there's was another that happened the next season that was also memorable. It was one afternoon during the rut, Where I had seen alot of deer and sign. I had the wind hitting me in my face (Ne) and blowing my scent back, also I had the sun behind me. Well I was enjoying the squirrels and the sounds when all of a sudden he appeared just like a (smokyghost). his horns looked as if they were glowing. Well he was out of range so I just watched him as he started to feed on some acorns. Well about 15 mins later here come these 2 does and they were moving at a face pace. When they seen him they stopped and one came right under my stand. (THE BABY) Well he had his attention on momma and started to run her all around the woods grunting. she would stop and so would he and he would chase again. well this went on for about 10 mins. the lil one still over on my right waiting. well momma broke away from him and came running right under my stand to find her baby. I seen him out a bit. Well he put his nose to the ground and here he come. Then he stopped off to my left while the mom and her youngen were to my right. Well he made a scrape and urinated and put his nose to the gound and starting grunting headind right underneath me well when he got to where he was Quartering away I gave a lil bbbuuuurrrrppp and he stopped. Poowwwwww !! sent a muzzy 100 right threw him. He was at the base of my tree and he was a dandy 8pt. It was the most awesome hunt Ive had. Well Ive had many but that was the best to date besides my first. Ill never forget it. and hope theres more to come, You gotta be there.

WELL HERE WE GO---- OCTOBER 2003-- HAD JUST FINISHED MY NEW BLIND THAT WAS CUT INTO THE BOTTOM OF AN OLD PINE TREE. I WAS TRYING TO GET SETTLED FOR THE EVENINGS HUNT WHEN I HEARD THE BRUSH MOVING. SOUNDED TO ME LIKE A HERD OG BUFFLO WAS COMMING. THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE LARGEST DEER THAT I HAVE SEEN ON MY PROPERTY APPEARED ABOUT 5 FEET FROM ME. WELL I LET IT PASS BY ALL THE WHILE TRYING TO GET MY RELEASE ON. AT APPROX 20 YARDS HE STOPPED AND PRESENTED HIMSELF. WELL SINCE MY BOW WAS LAYING ON THE GROUND I FIGURED THAT I HAD BETTER PICK IT UP. SLOWLY I BENT OVER TO PICK IT UP. GUESS IT WAS NOT SLOW ENOUGH CAUSE HE PICKED UP THE MOVEMENT AND AWAY HE WENT. MORAL OF THE STORY--- A BOW IN THE HAND IS BETTER THAN A BOW ON THE GROUND. IT WAS JUST GREAT TO SEE HIM.

Nov. 1st, my first bowkill, a doe at 22 yards, she jumped the string and the arrow nicked the tip of her shoulder blade and deflected into a vertabrae right above her shoulder blade and shattered it, she dropped like I had shot her with a gun. I have killed a bunch of deer with a gun, but there is no thrill larger than a bow kill.

There I was sitting in stand on Nov. 3rd. It was a good morning weather wise, so I was excited to go(as I always am). Legal shooting was at 6:20 and for some reason I got the itch to throw out some grunt calls. I don't usually call so early in the morning(don't know why), but I think that I'm going to do it more. No more than 10 seconds later, I see just pure white antlers walking through some thick brush(NO BODY, JUST A RACK!!!). I was sitting down at the time with my bow in my hand. I stand up, put my release on my string and get ready. He turns to come down a trail that goes right in front of my stand at 8 yards. I did have a shot at him broadside at 25 yards, but it's only a window of a foot and a half inbetween two trees, but I had already committed to shoot him right in front of me. The way my stand is setup, once I commit to a shot I have to stick with it because the cover in front of me isn't the best and that was the direction he was coming from. I can't move in the fear that I will get busted. I drew back while he was behind a big oak. He turns the corner to come right in front of me and just stops. He just stood there bobbing his head up and down looking for the buck that had grunted. He was looking to kick some arse. After a minute or two, I couldn't hold my draw anymore, so I slowly let down. The second I started to move he looked right up at me and GONE. I had enough time to look through the corner of my right eye at hime for that whole time and I would guess him to be atleast a 140-150 class buck. I have never shot a buck with my bow, so that would have been a great kill for me. After all said and done it was 6:40 and I just wanted to go home because I was sick to my stomach. Oh well, I guess that's why it's hunting and not getting. Sorry for being a little long winded.

I hear loud steps and turn to see the buck that must be making the smaller rubs. He walks to about 5 yards and then starts trying to plow his way through the branches I have piled to protect my flank. Finally deciding it is too much work, he walks around behind me and and walks down the trail he was supposed to take. I draw when he is behind a tree. Instead of continuing on, he cuts up the trail and stops - broadside at eight yards - which just happens to be the distance from my front door to the back of the closet at the end of the hall in my apartment and also the second distance my 20 yard pin is on at. I think - I might as well shoot. He swaps ends and bounds back the way he came. I don't know it at the time, but I hear him thrash around a little as he dies.

Either the dumbest or unluckiest buck or both. He walked about 300 degrees around me all within 10 yards. I did have skunk scent down. He also had the courtesy to run towards the road.

My wife and I skin him on the spot using a golf ball and our pickup truck.

The skunk scent is the key that its not this year, heh, people don't use that anymore?
