The wind is right, the deer on the camera have given me confidence. The groups I have put on the block have also boosted it. I am more confident this year than I ever have been.
So wish me luck, I am goin out in a few hours. Good luck to everybody else that has the oppourtunity to hunt today.

Good luck. Hopefully you'll have a better outing than I've been having. 3 sits no deer on stand, but it has been all public land. Show me how it's done.

Well, it didn't go as planned. Haha, did see a group of 5 bachelor bucks about 150 yards out in the field. 4 of them were sparring on and off, the other was just sittin there. I couldn't tell how big they were because I didn't have the binos with. Did have a huge doe and her fawn walk right under the stand. Was going to shoot her, but she wouldn't stop when she hit the lane.
Back to the bucks..it was getting close to dark so I figured maybe they would work their way down to my stand...no such luck. As I was walking out it was pretty much dark (the horizon was just orange). So I come around a corner and 2 deer BOLT and never stop. and 3 are just standing there looking at me. So I am standing still for about 10 minutes and one deer is inching closer to me. So I figured there wasn't a whole lot I could do and I just started kinda sliding my feet to make some noise....It spooked em enough to trot away.
I didn't think of this when the first 2 ran, but when the other 3 took off I leaned down to see their outline on the horizon...2 of them were probably 1 1/2, just small bucks, and the other was a bruiser. I only saw it from the side, but his main beams came out about his nose and it was either an 8 or 10 point. Either way, a nice buck for that area.
Then I just took my nephew out today. We pretty much just walked around the woods lookin at cool stuff. We both got two hot so we decided to call her quits and move my camera to a new location. We had a good time though.

It never goes as planned. That's why it's called a hunting license and not a gettin license.
Always, always take the binos. And, no calls with ya? Good luck, hopefully you didn't bust him too bad.

I know, I was kind of un-prepared because I got to my parents a little late, went to the hardware store to pickup the license....they closed at noon for some family issues...so I had to run to the next town and pick up one from them...took about a half hour because the lady didn't quite know what she was doing...then I couldn't find my call when I got there...said screw it, took off...then realized I didn't have any binos in the pickup when I got out there..
It was still nice to finally get out there though.
