Sure it is great to nail a good early season buck..... But to me there is nothing better than a swollen neck buck with a bad attitude

Good luck out there guys, hope you have a season to remember!

Totally agree bbh and sometimes wonder why I go out prior to that magical time. Well, I know why...I'm driven, need to be out there because one never knows but....when the frost hits the pumpkins and those neck swell, there's nothing like it.

I like a big ole swole neck as good as the next fellow--But swole neck season is toward the end of our gun season--But them early season bowhunts when the bucks are still bunched up--3 sometimes 5 together--that gets the ole ticker thumping!! IT DON'T GET MUCH BETTER!

Early season bucks weigh in more and are more tender eating when you concider the fact that they haven't yet fought and chased does all over heck and back. Rutting bucks can be stupid at times if you can find a doe nearby.

From the looks of those trees you posted earlier, your bucks neck might be swelling pretty good already.

My responce to this, oh hell yeah! I agree, nothing beats nailing a TOAD, that looks like he needs an alergy shot. All swollen, posturing up, stinks to high heaven, I want one, and i want it now![8D]

There's nothing like seeing one of those swollen-neck rascals walking your way from afar when all the leaves are off the trees, either... let's you have a couple more minutes to think about it and make it extra-special!
