well guys...i think im ready. tomarrow starts my first day of my second season in the woods with a bow. special early doe season for certain WMUs here in PA.
got the clothes washed, sprayed, airdried and packed away along with the pack and harness. pack is packed...bow is good n tuned...new blades on the broadheads...
im pumped. i honestly dont know what i would done if i didnt have this early season. tomarrows high is only 60. last year during the chasing phase of the rut it was warmer than 60. been nice and cool all week.
if anyone remembers my orcher posts from last year, well...thats where im heading. i know theres alot of deer in that area(residential area..) and i just didnt see them last year. only seen 2 illegal buck in there last year. i think earlier will be better. more fruit...less acorns on the ground...not much pressure if any at all. so thats where i will be in the morning. if that dont pan out, i will be in the woods, maybe a creek crossing in the woods where the deer come from to get to the orchard...we will see...
im pumped...just dont "FEEL" like deer season for some reason.
good luck to all thats hunting...if your not, well...hang in there...aint gunna be long now.
PS...you boys might wanna beef up the server just incase i DO tag my first deer with a bow tomarrow. the pics will come hard and heavy
its called huntin....but im feelin good about tomarrow. i just cant wait to climb that tree and kick back and relax. i been needin this. my brain is so fried from studying this week i forgot my ATM PIN # today. still cant remember it

Good luck mauser hope you get that first one under your belt tomorrow. I still have 16 more days before I can carry the bow into the woods. However, I'm headed out in the morning to hang some stands. Supposed to be 38 degrees, talk about gettin me fired up the cold weather in the mornin is sure gonna do it.

just got in from my morning sit.
word of the day: BRRRRRRRRRR
who woulda though, sept 15th, 2 weeks before normal bow season starts, that i would been out there shivering?? last year during the LAST week of the season i thought i was in the south...high was 70 something i was sweating.
cant really say why i didnt see anything this morning. im guessing 1 of 2 things. either the high winds kept the deer bedded, or atleat out of the wide open orchard...or could be the new treestand i find hanging 10yds INTO the thicket the deer bed in on the outside edge of the orchard. really dont know what that guy is thinking...i dont got a problem with anyone hunting there...its a real crap shoot...deer gotta want an apple for you to see them..but he has to walk INTO the thicket that they bed in..AND if he WOULD get in there without busting all the deer out, the wind is either blowing to the thicket or the orchard!
the winds were high and gusty...that could definently hurt..and that stand wasnt there 4-5 weeks ago when i hung mine...that could hurt.
hopefully the wind dies down...heading back later on this afternoon if it doesnt get any worse...still cant decide where i want to head. i walked those woods 1000003 times as a kid. i cant really narrow down a spot i feel good about. theres 2 i feel good about i guess..i guess wind will decide where i hunt...
DID learn that i am not real comfortable hunting from a lock on. first time ever...i pulled up my bow and pack...trying not to drop an 800$ setup+a pack with another 400+(binocs, range finder etc..) in it on a 18" platform is tough at best. couldnt hang anything up because my pegs were in my pack
somehow i lowered the bow...kept the pack...tied myself off to the tree...then got my hooks in and pulled the bow back up. dont like the small seat and small platform either. i guess after hunting from a summit viper for a year(only treestand i really ever hunted out of) i am a bit spoiled. pack right on it for my tie off rope and hooks and all that...rail to make me feel safe and gives me a place to put my bow while i wait...
oh well...next time will be better...i will take a foam pad for the seat and carry the hooks with me so when i pull up the bow and pack they got places to go immediately...
