I shot a real nice 8-Point Buck 11 years ago and it cost me $250.00 and it has the nice oak board behind it....last Nov. 2006I shot another nice 8-Point Buck and the same Taxidermist mounted it for $285.00 with the same type oak back board.

So 11 years later he only went up $35.00 for mounting...not too bad a price in my opinion.

A friend of mine shot a nice 8-Pointer too and his cost around $450.00 and took about 2 months longer to get done than mine....I would say my mount looks as good or the same as his as far as quality!

The deer I just dropped off is going to be $400. Its an offset shoulder mount similar to the pic posted by goherd.

In this area taxidermists charge about $300-$500 for a shoulder mount. My dad got his first buck mounted last year for $325 which wasn't too bad. Now that I am into taxidermy I can mount all my deer really cheap and I am going to mount my doe that I just got and I mounted my first deer which was a button buck last year.

I guess it just depends on whether you want to spend the money on a doe mount or save it for your first buck.
