Default Mock Scrapes

How many people have ever tried to make a line of mock scrapes. I was thinking about trying it out around some field edges to try and snap some pictures of some bucks that would come up and work them.

Any particular places you put them and what kind of scent do you use? Around what time of year?

If you're wanting to hunt over it I wouldn't recommend a field edge, but for just pictures it should be fine. The most important thing to remember is to be scent free even if it's blazin hot outside. I like to start mine around the end of August or first of Sept. Find a spot with a branch 4ft off the ground, clear a 2x2 or 3x3 cirlce and use the scent of your choice. I've had succes with a variety of them and even using my own urine.

i ruined a good area by setting up a scrape dripper. i had an area with 4 or 5 active scrapes in it. licking branches, rubs...all of it right there. dummy me got sick of waitin so i bought an "active scrape dripper" and used the scent that came with it. went in late morning in the middle of a rain storm. already hunt ready scent free...hung it...came back about a week later and the whole area was abandoned.

dont know if i got busted or they didnt like the fake bottled pee or what but by the looks of it they didnt touch the scrapes or anything since i hung the dripper. took me a while to find it because the scrapes were covered in leaves....

want to try again this year...but with REAL buck and doe urine from a deer farm. doubt i do though...i ruined a good setup there. i hear those scrapes that are grouped together like that are the ones to kill bucks at..i ruined it
