<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote<font size=1 face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>Where exactly in that post does the poster say they are a new archer? All I read was that they wanted opinions on a faster quieter bow.<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2 id=quote>
When a thread like this starts it will be viewed by MANY new archers that visit because this is probably the single most important worry they have right now......getting the right bow. They don't care about form, arrows, broadheads, releases, grip, vanes vs feathers....all they want is a great bow.
While the original poster may not be new I am sure this has been read by MANY newbies. It does look like I was speaking of this poster and that's not really what I intended.........I really don't know why this guy even wants a new bow......3 shots--3 kills seems funny to want to get a new bow with that amount of success.

You have no idea what the situations of NAAG, Bowtech, Mathews or any other company are for that matter. Further more if you think that capitalism is what decides which business rises and which fall you are sadly mistaken.
Also, bankruptcy has many different levels and all it really means is that you need some time to restructure your debt and make the business profitable again. Companies file bankruptcy with millions and millions of dollars every day........are they broke?? No, they just have to trim some fat and get focused again to return to a profitable setting.
If Bowtech thinks their new bow next year will knock everyones socks off and they mass produce thousands only to find out it doesn't sell as well as they hoped......that alone could send them on a downward spiral towards bankruptcy..........does that mean Bowtech is now a garbage bow??? By your logic it does. Even though it had nothing to do with bow quality and rather was short sighted business practice that was the cause.
My point is that MANY factors could cause a company to slip down or rise to the top. Marketing is HUGE!!! Problem is you have to have the money to run HUGE marketing campaigns. If people are told over and over and over and over and over that a certain bow is the best they start to believe it no matter if it is or not. That is why bows fall in value so much only one short year after they were the "hottest thing around"........because no one is talking about them any more. Will the Legacy or Patriot be any less of a bow next year???.....no but the price will be less.....why?? because all the marketing will go to the NEW "hottest thing around" and the Legacy and Patriot will not get as much press so sales will drop.
If Bill Gates wanted to start a bow company tomorrow he could be the industry leader inside 3 years. All he would have to do is use his money and maketing skills to buy all the top shooters in the country and pay all the TV hunters to shoot his bows and tell everyone how great they are........the other companies would never be able to compete simply from a financial standpoint........nothing to do with quality or lack there of.
Bowtech has caught and rode a nice wave of hype.........when they have been around as long as Bear(NAAG) then a comparison will be more fair.

I thought I was lost for a while.....this seems more like a political thread.<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>
Anyway my last post on the topic is................I shoot a Martin Cougar Magnum 2000 with the fusion cam. I've hunted 3 seasons with it and taken my share of deer with it. Its categorized as a mid-level bow here by a few...........but if anyone tells me my bow is not top of the line I am going to fight!!!!!!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I'm here w/ cougar. Martin does less advertising to allow lower prices on top quality bows. I just got a 2002 Martin Phanton magnum with fuzion cam and it is a HUGE upgrade from my previous bow.

I have never shot a Mathews so I certainly wont bash them. Maybe they are more expensive because someone has to pay for the 10 page ads in the middle of every bowhunting mag.
Silently, he sneaks along.
His Martin Cougar in tow.
Ornaments, he carries none;
But the notches on his bow.
