<BLOCKQUOTE id=quotequote:
The staff shooters are not given bows from the assembly line.

So then Mathews entire marketing strategy is a scam??? Mathews brags about all the shooters that win with their bows not NAAG. NAAG only says that Foulkrod and Bill Jordan kill lots of game with their bows. Personally I prefer seeing a whitetail or elk dropped with my bow vs someone stacking arrows in a 10 ring but to each his own I guess.

Mathews="All the pros shoot and win with Mathews so you should too"

Bowtech="Cutting edge ideas and blazing speed"

That is their marketing in a nutshell........right or wrong

Here's a place where you can start to decide which is the best bow for you:

Kinda confusing coming from the same person.......don't ya think??

quote:
I am going to drop it,it was a point of view that I should have known would offend, sorry!

Your point of view doesn't offend me at all. I just think you were giving really bad advice to a new archer that could result in anything from him getting a bow he doesn't really like but thinks he should or even worse not getting a bow at all because he thinks he can only afford cheap junk.

You sound like a guy that has been around bows quite a bit and had plenty of first hand experience with setting them up as well. Obviously your opinion is a valid one because of your experience and first hand feed back from many shooters but I still think you are doing people and archey harm by labeling some companies as sellers of cheap sub par equipment. This sport is clicky and elitest enough as it is.

A simple "Shoot em all and decide what is best for your style and budget............just don't expect a $200 bow to shoot like a $1,000 bow" would have been fine. There are so many great mid priced bows on the market that the average Joe Hunter would enjoy for many years.....it just seems silly to me.

krisken,

For what it's worth, I thought your assessment was right on line! I have owned all of the brands you mentioned and shot and tuned hundreds more and you summed it quite well. There maybe not be as much difference in the brands as there is between ice cream and dog
**** but there is a noticeable difference. If there weren’t you wouldn't see other companies having a noticeably larger market share while others file for bankruptcy.

Bowtech and Mathews top 7 or 8 bows bows are indistinguishable in craftsmanship and performance from their "top of the line" bows. While some of the other companies have a decent bow or two and then some noticeably cheaper models. Of all the models of Bowtechs mentioned earlier, I could tell you which one that I like the best, but not which is the best built bow. Because they are all equal. I suspect that is why their line is growing so fast. They have a solid design all the way through their line-up and that gives customers confidence. Customers know if they buy any Bowtech that are getting a quality bow. Because that is the only kind Bowtech builds vs. one or two good ones and several cheap ones. Now all that being said, it certainly doesn't mean that any bow on the market is not more than capable of killing deer consistenly at normal hunting ranges. But lets call a spade a spade, just because all of them will get the job done doesn't mean that they are all created equal. I personally believe that you get what you pay for. I have found that rule to have very few exceptions. Would you go to the cheapest doctor that you could find to have brain surgery? HELL NO!!!!! Because you know in the back of your mind that the best command the most! If Child Services tries to take your kids from you are you going to run out and get the cheapest lawyer you can find? If not, why? Because you know you're going to get what you pay for. Lets call it like it is(for once). If a cheaper bow is all you need or want or can afford then call it that way. Don't come blowing smoke up my *** about how your new Tahatsu truck is just as good as my Z71! If you want make the brag that your Ford or your Dodge is just as good, well you may have an arguement(I would think you were out of your mind) but you would have an arguement.

Where exactly in that post does the poster say they are a new archer? All I read was that they wanted opinions on a faster quieter bow.

mathews a popular bow, but not because of their quality. It is because people shoot them Because they have the cute little "mathews" Label on their grip.

But seriously, Kristen your chart has left out the majority of companys... i personally shoot a new Martin Phantom and love it. i bet if "mathews" was to take a Martin, pse of any other company and stick a couple mathews labels on it and them stick it out there for their new 2003 models then it will be just as popular and about $300 more expensive.

3dmo,

If NAAGs bow are so great then why did they have to file bankrupcy? Are the majority of shooters wrong? Bowtech doesn't have a high powered marketing campaign. No high prcied staff shooters. The only hype they have going for them is word of mouth from the multitudes of shooters out there, that recognize quality when they see it. Are we to conclude that these multitudes of shooters never tried the NAAG line? Are we to conclude that if a new comapny sprang up next year and no one knew but it was really the NAAG line with a differnt name that the masses would flock to them as they have done to some of the newer companies? I wouldn't give you a plug nickel for a Mathews but I am aware that they are a quality product. Companies don't stay on top of the market for that long because they're pretty and companies don't go backrupt that make the best product on the market! That is the essence of Capitalism!
