Huntingson..I'm not going to dog anyone out ..over an answer. To each their own. I hope it is a concern for the masses, that means when i get back in there I avoid them. (and I know this to be true)
My father at 72 doesn't hunt the second Mountain anymore..as a rule, because of the drag. I also have a younger Uncle with Heart issues and he hunts closer to camp or where he can get his ATV.That's fine.
The one place I hunt at camp is a solid5 hour drag..due to distance and terrain. One year Dad and I both scored on that mountain and took turns dragging one 20 yards going back for the other bring it up to the first..etc we didn't get out till 8:45 pm.

Nope.
I'm still young enough that it isn't too big of a deal (almost 30).. although these mysterious aches and pains do happen lately.. Better start taking care of myself a little better I guess.

Doesn't concern me. I don't drag animals out; I field dress, hoist them up, finish the job, and leave the bones, hide, and other junk in the woods for the critters to eat. Buzzards have to eat same as worms

When I was younger, it was never an issue... but age(and wear and tear) changed that. In the last couple of years it was a severely limiting factor. In the last 18 months I've had both hips replaced, so I'm hoping to be back in form this season, and not worry about the lenght of the drag.

I've never concerned myself with it as far as choosing to hunta particular spot. The caliber of animal I'm looking to shoot may change slightly. A basket rack 8 is not nearly as fun to drag as a 170" !

A couple of years ago I dragged a deer just about a mile. It was around 10 degrees outside. By the time I made it to camp I was in a T-Shirt.
Would I do it again yes. But I won't be able to do it forever.

It doesn't limit where I hunt but it does limit what I shoot. I do/did hunt this one spot that we never shot does in because it wasn't worth the drag...a buddy of mine signalled to me about this doe coming to his tree...I signal'd NO...and he got the "remember the drag" part but decided to shoot it anyway. When we finally got the deer back, (huge doe), he looked at me and said, never again...lol Only the big boys get shot up and over there.

I consider drag distance very much in my hunting. For does, I know there is no need attempt to hunt an area with a tough drag because I have many more places with easy/no drags. Now for a buck, I will hunt where I need to and deal with the drag if the time comes. Even my “far” drags probably aren’t as bad as many of you guys. Also consider the fact that much of my hunting is done after work, I need to find spots with quick entry just to get in the woods in time. When I am on vacation, I can take much longer, and getting a deer out of the woods at that point is not followed by needing to get up for work the next morning.
