Some more facts

1 1/4 is how close Hubert"Tiggy" Collins 203 3/8ths inch typical came from being the #1 archery typical world record.

4 to 6 PM more P & Y bucks are killed in that time period than any other 38%

Buffalo Count has 429 Entries in P & Y Top Dog!!!

159-1/8th Is the highest scoring typical from Georgia

191-7/8th Take the top ten typical bucks killed in Iowa and divide by 10 and 191-7/8th is the average.

96% hunters(tag a book buck)prefer Compound bows

I find those stats very interesting. I always wonder how far up the ladder they have to go to get those gems. I know there is extra info on the affidavit that is sent in to the P&Y clubbut what does one have to do to get access to such info...

In the late 90's I know the average distance that most P&Y's were killed was under 20 yards, something like 18 yards or so. Could technology ( better equipment and/or skill) be pushing the ability to make a killing shot farther than in days gone by or is it something else? Dunno

I thought the 38% (4-6 PM) evening kill figure is an interesting one. We have had this discussion before and as I recall most herefelt more big bucks were killed in the evening than in the AM. I guess I buck (no pun intended) that trend personally, over 70 % of the P&Y bucks I have killed have been in the AM. This makes me wonder...could the P&Ykill figure be higher in the 4-6 PM hours because more guys hunt the evening than do the AM? In other words during the rut I know a lot of guys that get home from work and head for the woods. They are unable to hunt the AM during the work week...Just thinking out loud.

Yes the 4 to 6 was shock to me also.

TV guys state 10-2 is the best time. I also found the stats for KY and IN to be very telling when a state is focused on good deer management

It said something about buckeye and bigjim putting a couple in the books. That was just their prediction along with team 16 winning the contest.

I too used to think that the AMs were better for big bucks. Now I am 50/50 with AM vs PM. I'm not sure why my success has shifted to the PM, might have something to do with warmer weather or maybe a change in stand location.

Some thing to think about is the sheer number of guys who can only hunt after work.

There seems to be some confusion as to where the buck was killed but most still think it came from the pennyrile wma in ky.
