Hopefully we aren't cutting/rodding pinto beans. If we are, I will go out the next day for a morning hunt. I need to have a SW, W, NW or SE wind Saturday morning. I will be hiding in a old grassy/weedy fence line( fence is long gone and Troy can verify it [8D] ) waiting on the 4x5.

If we aren't cutting pintosbeans and if I get off workearly enough Friday... I am not sure yet. Might be hiding in an cattail filledold drainage ditch outside a big bedding area... a big slough/bedding areaby a small tree belt were bucks generallylike to rub or Imight get into somestalking.

I hope we don't have to work as I am looking forward to hunting.

Get into the stand an hour before sunrise. I'll probably go back to one of the stands in the woods. I'll stay out there as long as possible which will probably be until 11:00 or noon. I'll head back out around 2:00 to get into my field stand until dark. I hope all goes well.

Additional scouting is still needed to pick the right spot or I should say...The spot to be chosen according to the weather that day.
The company I hope to have that day would be my best friend Dave...God willing I'll drag that guys deer out of the woods for him after the photo session!

I am currently still scouting daily. I have 2 bucks that I really like and have found where they are moving as of now in the daylight. I still have about 20 days left give or take a few to dial them in and adapt to any changes they make or I mayfind another buck that I am interested in. I am going into tomorrow to put intwo stands and one ground blind. I put in two ground blinds yesterday on very remote water holes that are pounded with deer/elk tracks. Water is going to be huge out West until we get some substancial rain. Once it rains those spots will cool down quickly. These two water holes are the closest water I can find near known bedding areas of the 2 bucks I really like. I put cameras in on them yesterday..waiting for pix..

I also have been (last few days)hiking and scouting a differentbig mountain with many finger ridges, draws, springs etc in search of possible hang outsof a certain buck. It really feels like a needle in a haystack searchbut I am really enjoying what I am finding so far...I found an excellent saddle finger ridge crossing yesterday with 8 heavily beatentrails intersecting from every direction. Water in both draws adjacent to the saddle. Its the perfect low path, yet heavy cover terrain feature for travel from draw to to draw with a meadow down below.

I will know a lot more by late August. But feel really good about two spots so far.. where will I hunt opening moring? ( Iam off work the first week of the season ) not forsure yet..but am leaning towards a big 4x5 as of today..
