I think there would be less hype but the camo, scents, anthe planting practices that the seed companies push would still be the same. I think the one major difference would be the taxi business.
Good point about Taxi
What about

Game cams?
Out state tags? Is anyone going to pay $400.00 to hunt Iowa?
Outfitters
Buckmasters would they even exist?
TVshows
DVD industry
TDM
QDMA
Pope and Young
Boone and Crockett

How many less bow companies might we have? How many less hunters?

The comment I made was not about you or I. About the big picture, now after Shedd33 comment I have thought it over. I was looking knowing what I know now. A world with out antlers would be very bad for the whitetail. As shed said would we know and would it matter.Again this is just what I think might be.
Now that I think about it there would be alot of difference. What would be the no.1 game animal then?

I have no idea, LOL

I just think it would be more different than we think. If we look at the big picture and not just what we know.

Right now the business of whitetails is about bucks/antlers. Not saying I agree with it, but it is what it is....

I bet there would be a huge decrease in the poaching business also.

Absolutely. Big bucks = Big buck$. But without antlers, would there be Doemasters?...maybe. Would there be North American Whitetail?...maybe. There would still be bows and guns and camo and tree stands. Man would still find a way to make big buisness and $$$ out of doe hunting.

mauser I would say most on this board feels that way. How do you think some of your fellow PA'ers would do? Not your inner circle. I know most my friends would still hunt.

Bears don't have horns.
Where there is a huntable population, they are hunted.

i would say 50 % or more of deer hunters wouldnt deer hunt if they didnt have antlers, that being said i enjoy shooting does
Ithink your numbers are significantly skewed and demonstrate the rack hunting mentality that seems to be perpetuated by state game commissions that want big racked back to bring in more out of state money, not by people that hunt.

Most people hunt to enjoy the outdoors, not to kill racked animals.

Germ,

I spent most of my life huntingaround Johnstown,PA starting from 12 yrs old. Most of the population loves to hunt for the sake of harvesting a deer whether buck or doe. Gary Alt started the whole garbage about creating a better buck to doe ratio to try and get bigger racked bucks and more out of state hunter funds. It's decimated the deer population in the public hunting areas in the area I grew-up hunting and stopped me from buying a license the past 2 yrs for PA. No, I don't hunt just to shoot something. However, when you sit all day in a stand in crappy weather you want to at least see a tail.

No antlers may affect the businesses that rely on antlers but I do not think it would affect hunters nearly as much. Do hunters hunt antlers or do they hunt the animal that has them? If they hunt the animal then the antlers become a moot issue. I think most deer hunters hunt the animal. Are there antler hunters? You bet! I just think that the vast majority of deer hunters hunt the animal and not its rack. If you take away the antlers you still have the animal and you still have, IMO, the vast majority of hunters hunting that animal. Would it be as popular? Nope. No tv shows about deer hunting, no "pro" whitetail hunters. Not as much equipment "guaranteed to get you close to the trophy of a lifetime". No, not as popular as it may be now but you still have most of the deer (not antler) hunters that you have now. You may lose guys that measure their manhood by the antler, but not guys that measure their skill by the animal.

[][:@]I messed up on the poll question. It should be a NO.

I did not answer the Question, Because if whitetail Bucks did not have Bone on their Heads, I would Hunt something that did, Or at least something that could eat you!

Thanks Germ for bringing up IOWA, They can take their extra 100 Bucks and the DOE tag they throwed in with it and Stuff it up their Hind Quarters!!!!

I can stay home here in Mich and shoot Does for 14 dollars!!!!

Everyone on this Forum Hopes to tag a Big Buck some day, and its usualy the ones that say it dose not matter to them that drives one around till the hair flies off when they finely get one!!

Yes we are hunters and would still probably hunt whitetails if they did not have Bone on their heads, just not with the passion we do now.
