I have a product idea I would like to run by some people in the archery industry especially in the sights department. If anybody has any ideas or might have their foot in the door in that area please let me know. Much appreciated.

I can't really help you, except for this one peice of advice. Get a non disclosure agreement from anyone that you share your idea with FIRST. (No, I don't know from first hand experience, just something that I learned working for a small engineering firm with a few patents.)

First - do patent research lots of it.
make sure it hasn't been done before.
It is amazing how much new and improved stuff is 50 years old.
Do a market analasis on what you designed - Specifilically
a. How much money - each - can you honestly expect to make.
b. How many - can you really expect to sell
c. Do the math - honestly - after R&D,Taxes, marketing - Is itworth it
The non-discloure agreement is HUGE !!!!!!!!
Find a good lawyer - sooner or later you will need him.
Be prepared to spend a lot of your own money
Be prepared to spend years trying to get tihis done.
DO NOT USE A PATENT SERVICE - Spend the money on booze & hookers at least you will have some fun while you get screwed !!!!!!!!
Knock on doors -Face to Face - Spend money - Spend money -Spend money
Call the guy from "Anchor Sight"= http://www.archeryinnovations.com/
He DID invent the better mouse trap.
He is more than willing to share what he has learned along the way.
Good luck with your project.
In closing, I would offer that :
In buisness it is all about the money, no romantic delusions, no childhood dreams, SHOW ME THE MONEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know several guys that have come up with some really good ideas or ways to improve existing products and had other people profit from their ideas because they didn't take the steps to protect their hard work and ideas from being stolen.
Captleo1 has some really good advice listed.....!
