RE: Have you ever dry fired your bow?
No but I hadthe factory string onmy Browning Oasisbreak right at the shot. The arrow flew into the target but the bow still made a big boom. I had it taken apart and inspected, everthing checked out ok. I put on a new set of Stone Mountain Dakota's and shot it the rest of the season.
I was looking over my bowsabout a month agoand found a crack in the upper limb. Very small but a crack none the less. I'm not saying it was from the string breaking but I wouldn't rule it out either. |
RE: Have you ever dry fired your bow?
ORIGINAL: bkalbach i might have. i was shooting a hoyt deviator target bow during practice one day and when the shot went off it sounded TERRIBLE. odd thing was though, it hit the target in the 7 ring at 90 meters. i dont know if it fell off the rest and as it was falling my release went off and caught it or what. i immediately took it to lancaster archery and they inspected it and deemed it safe, with no problems. it was an odd, and scary, experience. 90 meters huh. |
RE: Have you ever dry fired your bow?

RE: Have you ever dry fired your bow?
Umm..im guilty also.. Started shooting a BT release this spring, I eased to full draw, found my anchor, arrow fell off(still dont know how), went to let down and there she went..I was at 3/4 draw at that time though.LOUD.[:@]
A Funnyone:I also shoot a thumb release and i was almost to full draw (this spring also) and the whole release slipped outof my hand..Arrow went airbourne:eek: never to be seen again and my release was found about 5min later..;)I caught a lot offlak from the guys over that one..haha |
RE: Have you ever dry fired your bow?
Here's what I did to my old bow after a full draw dryfire. Gouged up the cam, but the draw-length adjustment slider took the bulk of the energy out of it.

RE: Have you ever dry fired your bow?
Quick:
You "practically"dry-fire your new bow every time you shoot it! :D |
RE: Have you ever dry fired your bow?
yep, i was just starting to use a knocking loop a few years agoand it broke when i practice drew it between shots(yea, very dumb not to catch it in time). at the time i had it turned down to 60# instead of up to 70. I think that is what saved me, i had it inspected and all it did was snap several strands of the string, so it was a relatively cheep fix.
