It may not be as safe, but I do wear a belt.

But I hate being tied to the tree behind my neck!! You cant turn around backwards and shoot a bow w/o the strap being in the way.
Would you rather be tied to a ventilator and unable to turn around at all?
This cost me a deer once!!!!
I also put the belt so the leash is snug when im sitting so if i were to fall I wont go anywhere.
Get a harness.

The biggest issue with belts are the ones that can tighten up when you fall. It tightens so tight you can breath. Get a harness, it takes a couple of times to get use to it, but it is the way to go.

This is what I use. Attach in the front with a figure eight. If you do fall yourefacing the tree and can actually do something. (1 million rockclimbers and rescue personel can't be wrong.) Using just a belt rapped around your waist is stupid and I would highly suggest yourethink wearing them. A fall of just 2ft with your fat a$$e$ would surely break your back.[8D] NeverEVER put a belt around your chest! Youowe it to your loved ones to return home every night unharmed.

It only takes a couple times putting the harness on to get used to it.
It only takes one time to be unable to use the harness at all if you choose not to use one your next time on stand.
I used the strap for years and years. I didn't like the harness at first because it seemed to be a pain in the arse to put on...un-wad in otherwords.
30 seconds of my time is worth another 20 years of bowhunting...I'm being conservative as I'm over 50. lol

How deep are your pockets?
Honestly I like the least amount of bells and Wistles as possable with these things. Do you see thosehard "D" loops that repeat around the waist line. They are for attaching Carabiners, Cams, rigging, and such that rock climbing calls for. We don't need them and they could cause noise if rubbed against a tree or stand. Also I wouldn't get too caught up on the amount of padding do to the fact that rock climbers that single accent stand a chance of dead falling up to ten feet as we on the other hand face a two or maybethree foot drop if everything is as suppost to be. Mineis the same brand as the above picture but without any padding and no ridged loops and I love it. I think I paid 30 bucks at an EMS or the like store. My girlfriend has one just like the above and was something like 50 dollars. It's sweet for sure butI want to cut those plastic do hickies ofcuz I know it'sgonnacost her a deer someday. Hope this helped.

If your wearing a belt your probably better off wearing nothing at all. When you fall it will be a slow painful death, why prolong it! I work at serious heights for a living sitting on Ibeams rigging, I always wear a full body harness while at work or in a treestand! I love my kid too much not to!

Full body harness, every time.
I have too many more years ahead of me to enjoy life to ruin that by wearing cheap safety equipment.
My family and friends deserve me using my better judgement.
