I just dont like how they are bringing reality TV to the hunting industry

My thoughts exactly. I posted a similar opinion elsewhere and got seriously flamed...but it is my opinion that hunting is not a soap opera with manufactured drama, or who is mad at whom for not getting out of bed on time, or taking someone into the woods who has no idea what they are doing (or worse who has no appreciation for what they are doing) or "what's in the prize stash". Hunting is not a competition or a cheap made for tv movie. FWIW, I don't watch it any more. Flame away...;)
I agree, expect for your choice of color for your font[:'(]
There is my flame

The arrow may have hit something on the way out of the blind. This happened to me back in April while turkey hunting.
Oh really? Me, too. My "something" was the BLIND!:D

Someone who gives a flip should send them all a link to this thread. I'm tired of all the hammed up cutsie stuff going on in the woods. It's hunting. Bring back Jim Shockey and Knight and Hale. Heck, even Jim Zumbo is better.

Agreed...things I don't want to see:

guys sleeping in their bunks who have to be awaken by fellow hunters
guys arguing with their hunting buds or coping attitudes
fabricated drama of any kind, including annoying music during hunts
guys playing guitars
guys talking on cell phones
guys eating breakfast before their hunts
guys pumping gas on the way to their hunt
guys riding in pick-ups on the way to their hunt
guys playing practical jokes on other guys, etc.

What I do want to see:

time in the woods scouting
quick explanations about why a certain hunting spot was chosen
quick explanation of the strategy employed
quick menu of gear used
hunting
hunting and
most specifically, bowhunting
shot impact
possible tips for tracking
nice views of the collected trophy, possibly including scoring information (can be helpful when field judging both rack and age)

These are just a few things that come to mind. Call me old fashioned, but I don't watch any reality tv either...it has no place in hunting for me. Best regards...;)

This is getting off the subject a little. But I heard the other day when shooting at the archery range that the Drury boys might leave Hoyt. Rumor has it that PSE is willing to throw down some serious money to get them after losing Primos to bear archery. Any one else hear any thing like that? I was wondering if it was true?

Here some advice to one of our most elder wise members on HNI

STOP WATCHING IT:D I can say I watch 2 mins of a dream season about 2 months ago. I had the sportsman channel and we did not get the show. We now OC and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I lasted less than 2 min.:Dwacthing that garbage. I have never watch it since:)

If it bothers you so much stop watching the damn thing. It's like saying I hate to get slap in the face, but you ask to get slapped every Tuesday night. Than Wednesday you complain about being slapped on Tuesday[&:] I bet you get slapped again on Tuesday:D I think you like the abuse;)

I don't watch their stuff,I don't even know the names of their programs. What ever it was that had hunters pitted against one another in competition struck me as crap when I watched it,I do not like things that are contrived, like others have said the manufactured drama.Keep it real!
I don't have a problem with women hunting at all,I deer hunt alone so it wouldn't matter what gender the person is they wouldn't be with me.For me it is a matter of independence,(not that their shouldn't be understanding and patience as someone is learning) If a person, man or woman is independant and can be involved with hunting while not diminishing my experience that is fine with me.

For the record, I don't watch it anymore. I think what we are trying to say is that this is a bigger issue than just the Drury show (correct me if I am wrong David). This focus on overdramatizing, reality tv stuff is seeping into other shows as well...ones that used to just focus on hunting. Goofy banter, practical jokes, playing music during hunts, contrived drama, etc. is completely unnecessary. If watching a big buck approaching your stand does not get you excited without all that, than maybe hunting shows are not what you are looking for. Just my .02. ;)

Jeff Probst(I think thats how you spell his name) who is on the Drury team and also happens to work for Hoyt posted on Kisky.com that the Drury's have talked to PSE about switching bow brands but no decisions have been made yet, so as of right now they are still shooting Hoyt..
