ORIGINAL: IL-Cornfed
it seems to be a true struggle for most folks I've seen to even hit deer sizedtargets at 15 to 25 yards! [:-]
Those folks need to practice a lot more than they do!

I shoot traditional mainly because I don't believe I have a choice. I don't really shoot or hunt with any other weapon anymore.

I shoot traditional now because it's more simple (basic) and fun. I shot a bare compound instinctive before and when I looked for a replacement BobCo suggested I look at a trad bow and it just seemed to fit my style more. Things I like about it: light, wood is beautiful and warm to touch, twice as quiet as the quietest compound, fits my KISS attitude, seems much "cooler" than a mechanical bow, elves shoot them (just kidding). To be honest FOR ME the way some of you guys approach bowhunting seems more like an algebraic calculation than fun. Too many check lists and gadgets and tightening and double checking and analysis for MY taste. I get an arrow tuned to my bow and after that it's all up to me to do things right, no knocked sights, no dropped release, no peep hole misaligned or too dark to see through, etc. IT'S JUST MORE FUN.

This season I will be 50/50% "Traditional" and compound.

Recurve and Longbow for PA, compound in IL.
