X-Force and Iron Mace shooters....
#1
Just wondering for those of you who shoot either of these bows: What kind of speed are you getting with hunting weight arrows (include arrow weight if you can) and how flat are you shooting to your first pin? Do you still shoot multiple pins or can you now just use a single pin? I am thinking about trying these next year. Thanks in advance for sharing.

I dont' own one, but I have played with an X-force at the shop. At 61lbs and a 29" cam (measured 29.5") it put out a 308 grain arrow at 337 if I remember correctly.

At 29", 70#, I think my bow is shooting a 350 grain IBO arrow at about 315-317 fps. Will confirm those numbers for sure tomorrow night. 2007HCA Iron Mace.
Still not sure what arrow I will be hunting with. I have several options here - getting 369 fpswith a 245 grain speed pro arrow(55 grain head).
338 fps with the same speed pro and a 100 grain head (290 gr total).
I've got some Lincoln Log Goldtip XT's with 100 grain heads that were my hunting arrows before. They're probably in the 290-300 range. On the slow side, but indestructible hunting arrows.
As for one-pin, I went with a pendulum (lockable w/slider), and it takes out all the guesswork. Windage is dead on out to 30, probably more with the Gold Tips. Haven't tried the speed pros from elevated platform or 20+ yardsyet, so the jury is still out.
I'll PM you more concrete data when I get it, but my suspicion is that if you put the same arrow in the I.M. and the XF, set at the same draw weight and length - you'll get a little more speed out of the XForce. Mace speeds will be on par with the Allegiance. I think the XF will be a shade faster, but you're sacrificing brace height. It's all in what you like.
If you're interested in going below the 5gpp threshold, then the Mace is your only option.
Check out my review of the Mace if you haven't yet. I think my pictures will tell you more about the fit & finish of the bow than the pictures on their website.

Oops - sorry jeff - that's the speed, not the weight. They're probably close to 400 grains, but I have no idea what they weigh.
Anybody know what a 29.5" GTXT 5575 Camo shaft weighs? Equipped with the lock-nocks and inserts that came free with the shafts, and 3 4" feathers. Crested with bohning-fletch-lac. 100 grain tips.

Still intrigued by the speeds of the light arrow....if for nothing else...for conversation's sakes.
You should see the look on guys' faces when you tell them that your bow shot an arrow at 369. They laugh until I show them the chrono picture on my phone... [:-] That's entertainment that you justcan't put a pricetag on, right there.
Then, they get steamed and go roaring back to the archery shop, furious b/c they have a $1200 Drenalin with all the toys, and it still can't top 305. I just like causing a stir.
Oh, just FYI - the numbers I'm getting are with a tie-nock, peep, 2 bowjax on the limbs, 2 jax on the cables, speed buttons (left at factory spec), sims s-coil stab, sight and WB rest. No string loop. This is not a bare bow.

I had serious limb envy until I found out my bow could probably get similar results.........provided I was willing to accept the responsibilitythat goes withpropelling pixie stix.[&:]

Quick: Those Gold Tips should be about 8.6 gpi. I'll let someone else do the math.
My Iron Mace is set at 64 #. My hunting arrow is an Easton FMJ 400, finished weight is 454gr. Speed is 282 fps.
Pin wise, I use a VBG Triangle. I have my top pin set dead on at 25. Its about an inch high at 20 and two at 15 (I tend to shoot low...southern deer duck). My next pin is just below my top, not enough to really see between them, and its dead on at 35. Bottom pin I left in the factory setting, and with these heavier arrows, I'm still not exactly sure where that pin is set at now...probably around 50 or 55 yards.
I was shooting 330gr arrows out of it for 3D, my pins were factory set...and I dialed the top one in at 20, and the middle was dead on at around 42/43 and the bottom dead on at 60/61 (I'm not good enough to tell the difference at that range).
I'm not going to get into the X-Force debate again. But I have shot them (they are shockingly quiet, more so than the IM). The draw curve is heavier, hand shock is about the same. I'll leave it at that.
