Can a BPS employee use his 40 percent discount onoptics? I know they can'y buy rangefinders, etc. since they are electronic, but are binoculars/ spotting scopes fair game? Anyone know?

I don't work there, and was just going to have a dude I know buy em for me. I went and looked at just about every style/brand they carried, and I was not impressed with the RedHeads. The Bushnells, Nikons, etc. of the same price all seemed way better IMO.Overall, with price and performance considered, I was a huge fan of the LeupoldWind River Cascades 8 X 42@ $319.00. They are great binos, and the price was minimal compared to the other top of the line optics. They are just out of my price range, but a 40% discount (which can't happen)would havemade them a feasible option. Guess I'll just save up and buy them with a BPS credit card to save 10%.

I agree that German is better (and I usually don't scrimp on equipment), but the BPS Epics are decent binoculars. I have a pair that I used last year and I like them (got them on a big sale). They are Bak-4, phase coated, twist eye cup, diopter adjustment, heavy and solid (hinge won't stop working after one year), come in 8x42, are relatively bright, and relatively cheap. They are pretty good in low light. You will need the binocular harness deal b/c they are heavier than most.
With a 40% discount it would be hard to beat the value.
My latest BPS catalog also has a newer line of more epensive "Euro" style binos like Cabelas. Haven't seen those, but since price is a big concern for you and you get 40% for BPS stuff, that seems like the way to go.
