I agree that German is better (and I usually don't scrimp on equipment), but the BPS Epics are decent binoculars. I have a pair that I used last year and I like them (got them on a big sale). They are Bak-4, phase coated, twist eye cup, diopter adjustment, heavy and solid (hinge won't stop working after one year), come in 8x42, are relatively bright, and relatively cheap. They are pretty good in low light. You will need the binocular harness deal b/c they are heavier than most.

With a 40% discount it would be hard to beat the value.

My latest BPS catalog also has a newer line of more epensive "Euro" style binos like Cabelas. Haven't seen those, but since price is a big concern for you and you get 40% for BPS stuff, that seems like the way to go.
