Default cock vane perpendicular to cable?

When I switched over from Radial X-Weaves to a/c/c/ 3-71's.....I noticed my blazers were 'clipping' my cable when i shot cock vane up. I turned it to perpendicular.....and I have no clearance issues, now.

Here's where I show my ignorance to archery......because I've ALWAYS shot cock vane up.

Does this change have any potential downside(s)? Or....is everything fine....as long as I have no clearance issues....and my rest is not a factor?

Thanks.

I think no difference at all. As long as your bow is well tuned it shouldnt matter which way the fletchings start out...

As w/ anything else though, an outta tune bow will exaggerate any changes.

should be fine, I had to rotate mine slightly as well, I normally just rotate enough to have adequate clearance

I would think there would be no difference at all.

It shoots just fine. I was just wondering if there was anything I needed to look out for......or be cognizant of.

Thanks for the replies.

It means NOTHING,as long as there is zero fletching contact ... which. by the way, changes with the rest your using, as well as shaft thickness, IMO

Spray some desonex foot powder on the last 6" of the arrow and then shoot it. You will know if you have a problem or not when you look at the arrow and bow after this arrow is shot. I do this with all bows shooting blazers at least once because they are such a high profile. This step can save a lot of tuning headaches down the road if done before you start setting it up.

Honestly.....when I turned the cock vane.....I didn't have to do anything else. They flew perfectly......and this was with BH's (practice Muzzy's).

I'm quite surprised I didn't have to do a thing.

I have an old BowTech and had to rotate my nocks so the cock vane is pointing outwards to avoid clearance issues with the cables. Now I have no fletching contact and no more problem. I'm using a DZ rest.
