I have a new QAD drop away rest and cant remember if it is cock vane up or cock vane down. It seems to shoot the same either way.

It does not matter where you have the cock vane. The important thing is to adjust the vanes so you get fletching clearance.

It does matter where the vain is exspecially with a traditional rest. Cock vain down. All your arrows will fly more consistant it all shot the same way. ? Why does it have to be called a Cock vain?

He is shooting a drop away rest and no it does not matter which way they are oriented. Just make sure that all are passing though with our touching the rest.

It's called a cock fletch because before there was plastic vanes fletchings were all made from feathers. The feathers are called cock and hen because a male bird is a cock and a female bird is a hen. A single cock has a harem of hens. Thus one cock feather and multiple hen feathers.

I'm a newbie and last weekend out on the walking course my new archery friend that has kind of taken me under his wing tweeked a couple of the nocks on my arrows so the Cock vane flew correctlythrough my rest. When we got back to therange where all the boys hang out I proudly and loudly told everyone that "John fixed my cock vane problem and now I feel much better!"They thought it was funny, John did'nt.
