In terms of archery, our speeds are so slow that "strike velocity" is a nonfactor.

Hey, I wouldn't have brought this up, but one poster posted some BS from HC about a 600gr arrow, and you brought it up with some youtube video thats geared to sell stuff. You might care less, just sharing some info.
There is only one poster that made some sort of sense out of all this, and made a case about stalking and using one pin in open terrain out to 35yards.

I want to use 1 pin out to 100 yds.
Fran,
Come to mention it you do look like him in the picture you posted with the tank top on. I think it was the arms that most resembled him!!!

BC - I think you've been reading too many ballistics charts. Strike Velocity will only have a noticeableaffect onpenetration at extreme, hypersonicspeeds (think .22-250 at 3500 fps into a vat of ballistics gel, or the Mythbusters episode where they were firing rifles into a H2O column).

Dave, I probably never told you this, but I am the illegitimate son of Rambo.

I know, BC, it would be nice if we were all as smart as you, maximizing our momentum in order to be the ultimate predator.
Fact is, I would be afraid that at speeds as slow as 180, you would maybe be at-risk of a seagull or a sparrow or a wood duck swooping down and catchingthe arrow before it ever actually got to the target. Or maybe the deer falling asleepor dying of old agewhile it was waiting for the arrow to make impact. Realistic concerns...
Here's a little calculation that I did, just for you.
The average car travels at 70 mph down the interstate - that works out to 102 feet per second. Your average little leaguer throws a fastball at around 55 miles per hour - that works out to be 80 feet per second. So, you're trying to tell me thatyou hunt with a600 grain arrow at the same speed as if it was chucked out the window ofthatmoving car by a 5th grader?

You guys can keep your Rambo.
Here is Burt at the 30 year celebration of Deliverance. No pins out to 100 yards.

It always doesn't have to resort to belittling someone to get by actually showing facts. Next, its going to be about spelling or punctuation. Same MO, different day.
Debate your point like a man and teach us something. Show ushow smart you are.

Quick I like your bow, but I would shoot it with a 600+ grain arrow to get the speed down to 240-250 fps.My setups are about killing deer. If your arrow gets there a fraction of .005 seconds sooner so be it. The damn deer is dead, and until we have bows that shoot over 700 fps it really does not matter. You keep your speed, and John Rambo as your daddy.

I showed you BC - 70 MPH car +12 year oldlittle leaguer= 180 fps.
I've read 50 page threads where people who were actually formally trained in hydrodynamics, physics and mathematics debated this issue, and THEY couldn't even agree on it. What makes you think that some dumb schmuck like me is gonna make some bold, ground-shatteringpronouncement of projectile/friction/hydrodynamic theory that is the end-all, be-all of the "penetration debate." Not gonna happen.

Germ, we all know you only pull the girly weights, so you could only dream of these hypersonic speeds and bone crushing power. [

I got you some wheaties.
Off-topic, but I never knew Burt Reynolds was a bowhunter. Who knew? People alwayssay I look just like Burt Reynolds...
