Default String Accesories vs. Lost Speed

I was at the bow shop having the G5 Meta peep installed and saw that the package claimed up to 5fps improvment. I asked them about kissers and clamps and they were not sure of the estemated effet. I know there was just a post about arrow wieght, but I wasn't sure how differnt that factor was on the string.

Kisser button will slow you down about 5 fps, each brass nock around 7. The center of the string is the most touchy about add ons....

I can tell you that when I took my old peep off and installed a meta peep, I gained 7 fps......And that's all I did was put on that peep...Didn't change anything else.

String loops are another speed killer b/c not only do they add weight to the string itself, they also tax your draw length. If you're into speed, you'll want to keep your draw as long as possible andkeep your string as light as possible - no leeches, tarantulas, rubber doo-dads, tru-balls, kissers, etc...

However, not everything that you add to your string will decrease speed. For example, there's a "sweet spot" on the top and bottom of your string (just a couple inches away from each cam), where you can add some weight (i.e. brass nockpoints) and actually INCREASE your speed. Lots of the newer bows are coming stock with some eliminator buttons shrinkwrapped onto the string at this location.Generally, that's the big exception to therule.

Thanks quiksilver,

I was wondering what the hell "speed nocks" were all about if everything else on your string slowed you down.

Depends on the bow and where the item is on the string, and of course what it weighs.

If you put string silencers in the right place you won't lose any speed at all, might even gain few fps if you get lucky.

The biggest speed killer is a peep with rubber tubing. Next in my opinion would be kisser button in conjunction with a peep. You just don't need both its wasted weight in my opinion, and it's close enough to the center to really be noticed.

My opinion anyway.

And string loops do not change your draw length. If too long they can change your percieved draw length, but they do not actually change the draw length of your bow, they just change where your hand anchors to your face. Using a different release will do the same thing.
