ok heres the verdict. i switched from the biscuit to a trophy taker today and i went from 268 to 282 fps. but i think the quick spin speedhunters that im shooting are the reason for the big jump. i think the biscuit was slowing them down alot more then regular vanes since they have the speed lip on them.

Back when i used to shot one i was seeing a 2-3fps drop with a helical fletch and a 1-2 fps drop with straight fletch.
The speed reduction will be increased if the disc is too tight around the shaft or the biscuit isn't tuned properly- it shouldn't be correcting arrow flight, merely giving the arrow something to sit in and slide on when it's on its way outbound.

Well with your proof now Va. it can be said that the difference could be quit a bit. It's great that we now have available equipment at an affordable price to know what is what.Does make a lot of sense. Something causing that much contact not making that much of a difference just doesn't. It's grabing every vane on the way out, the krinkled vanes are the proof of heat from friction. I wonder how much heat though, or how much it would take to cause the right vane to burst into flames. That would be cool. A flaming arrow would be very cool to hunt with and you wouldn't even have to light it first.
268-282 is a big jump.
