OK, so you would like restrctions higher than those that exist, so you must believe in letting bucks get older before attempting to kill them? And obviously from your calling, you believe in trying to extend and share your beliefs to others. Right? So why wouldn't you tactifully try and share your beliefs about deer hunting and not shooting young bucks to others? Guys might listen a lot better from a preacher than a couple scruffy guys from PA, OH and MI

rybo ... if NYS institutes an antler restriction greater than the current, "one antler of at least 3" in length", I will be the first one jumping up and down with glee .... but until then, if it's legal, I can't get down on the guys that shoot the small bucks. That's all I'm saying.

Since I fish a lot I always use this analogy
To me QDM is a lot like fishing. There are legal limits for a fish to be so big, why is it so hard for people to accept size limits for deer? Then you have the C&R guys who are a LOT like the QDM guys who urge others to refrain from killing that legal but small fish (buck).

Anyway, I would like to see it due to the fact that when I lived next to that farmer that TDM'd, I saw some pigs, and shot one. I also shot 2 other 8 pointers that were 2 1/2 year olds. In the summer, I had 6 bucks come to my pond ... I have NEVER seen anything like that before! I saw so many bucks ...... It works .... I know it does. I do tell people my experience, and if I ever get the chance to own land again, I WILL TDM it. The key is, I refuse to look down on the guys that shoot the small ones ..... it's old school thinking, but that's how my Dad always did it..... and ILCornfed, he got TONS of pleasure and excitement from shooting small bucks ..... most of his life, any buckswere few and far between.... it's different today .... last season I saw more bucks than does ...

Preacher Tony,
If you read my post in this thread it would be obvious where I am from.
As you know, I don't like to state the obvious.
The little icon I posted is intended to convey to the reader that what Germ said was clever and I am giving him props.
Peace be with you.

You say to see things through the eyes of someone else and ask who are we to tell you what you can and can't shoot. Well who are you to shoot all the bucks before they reach maturity because you want some meat. That is crap. I work my butt off looking for good hunting spots to get a chance at a nice buck. That is my choice, but it is frustrating beyond belief when I find a spot that has promise and after gun season that promise was whisked away because a bunch of 1-2 day hunters who are good down to earth guys came in and blasted everything with bones in its head and let the doe walk.
