Thermacell?

RE: Thermacell?
I lay mine on the platform or use the strap on the holster to strap it to a tree limb. I'll be using it in my climber this weekend when I hog hunt. I'll take a few pics of different options for use.

Arrowmike,
Thermacell's are AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! They work just incredibly. We took them to Canada bear hunting and spring turkey here. When we get to a sight and set up, we would be covered in bugs and in about a minute or two of turning on the thermacel all the bugs were gone. They are quiet, and hardly any smell. I used them when I got my bear last fall, and he did not seem to notice it.

GMMAT,
I just lay mine towards the back of the bottom platform on a climber. Haven't had a problem. I guess depending on the climber there could be issues with knocking it off, but nothing that can't be rigged.

They are Awesome. The lodge I used to guide at for Bear and fishing uses them all the time for the bear hunters. The season up here starts August 15th so the bugs are in full swing and it can be hot out. Not a problem with one of these!

brucelanthier,
I think the butane cartridge is rated to last for 12 hours and the mat (with the active ingredient) for 4 hours. That's why the kits come with 1 cartridge to 3 mats.
They get about the advertised hours. The effectiveness does start to decrease as it gets closer to 4 hours. You can usually tell when the mat is used up b/c it turns from blue to white.
Depending on how bad the bloodsuckers are, I sometimes only use it near dawn and dusk, and then I only use 1 mat for a whole day. You can reuse the mat if you use it the next day or so but after that it dries out.
