I don't go in the woods without it. My family also uses it around the house. Its great when Lily is using her wading pool or swingset.

I may buy one this year. I actually was going to get one last year......but I hunt with a facemask.....long sleeves and gloves. I'm trying to decide if I really need one.

I DO know I make some unwanted movements swatting at mosquitos. That might be reason enough to get one.....but, to me, it's just something else to carry.....and I carry VERY little with me to the field.

Jeff, I got the holster for it. I strap it to my fanny pack and hardly know its there. I used to swat at mosquitos. I wonder how many times I was busted and don't even know it. I too wear mask, gloves and long sleeves. Get the Thermacel you'll be glad you did. If you don't like it I'll buy it from you at full price and I'll pay the shipping. What do you have to lose now?

I will not hunt without one during early season. I hunt in La. close to a lot of water. I honestly think
that the constant buzzing and biting of mosquitoes and gnats was one reason I did not turn to
bowhunting sooner. Even if you could weather the swarms (and I did), your movement was horrible.
It's no surprise I never saw anything on those hunts where the mosquitoes tore me up.

I tried a face mask and spray, but spray stinks and they were still crawling all over me and buzzing
my ears. It was agony. I'd come back from hunts with 100+ bites and red bumps all over my hands
and face. In the best new equipment voting, I always pick Thermacell.

They absolutely work. I have literally seen swarms come in at dusk and they don't enter the window
of a boxstand. On a climber (which I use more often), if you put it under you on the platform, maybe
one or 2 make it through.

The only thing is it does not work if you are moving a lot. It takes about 5 minutes or more for it to
disperse. They are also good for any other outdoor stuff where you will be in the same spot.

Despite what some people say they also give off odor. I don't like to be where the smoke (light plumes)
are in my face b/c it smells like what it is, some kind of insecticide. I reasearched this as best I
could and all the comments I've seen say it doesn't spook or alert deer (though I'm still skeptical).
So I only use it for the early months (October/November) when I know the bugs are bad.

That really says a lot. I’m convinced. It’s off to the store tomorrow to get one. Thanks every one.

The only bad thing I can say about them (and it's not something I can't live with) is they have to lay flat to burn, you can't have them in an upright position like strapped to your leg or even the tree itself if you are treestanding it. Tried to use mine last night while at the deer farm and couldn't get it started[:@]. The darn flies carried me out to the swamp and the mosquito's carried me back.

Let me know if it doesn't work out. I own 2 now, one for hunting and one for around the house. I won't mind a bit having a spare to loan to guests that come hog hunt with me. My wife won't let me take "hers" to the woods. Its for gardening I guess!
