Just curious if anyone has had better luck with certain types of ratchet straps not being chewed on by squirrels, rats, ect. ? I have seen certain types of small chain type binders but I am not sure if they would be sturdy and quiet enough. I just have a hard time leaving my hang on stands out for 2 to 3 months ahead of season and then crawling up in it on opening morning without being able to effectively check it out first. I don't want to screw up an opportunity at a monster because I'm having to re-strap my stand in the dark.

Any suggestions?

hunt it in the evening first, or go ahead and use the chain-on. They're only loud when you carry them out and set them up. If they're set up months in advance you shouldn't have a problem.
