Chuck Adams report on Aluminum Arrows
#11
Chuck's record would be Chuck's record regardless of which arrow he chooses to use. His record speaks for itself dispite bows, camo or arrows. It is what it is.
The article it not new, it's been here before and most of the "down play" on carbon has little to do with the arrow itself. Just like the mention of "bear camp" where the carbon shooters couldn't get fixed blades to fly. It's a matter of education and know how and nothing to do with arrow choices. I've shot aluminum, all carbon and carbon/aluminum composite and would have zero problem going all aluminum again. I've had perfect arrow flight with all 3 using Muzzy's. It's not the arrow, it's the know how behind them. I'd love to share a camp with Chuck and debate arrows, set them all up and watch the results.
I'm not saying aluminum is better, I'm not saying carbon is better, both have an excellent place in the archery industry with perfect results. Both have merits, both have limitations.
Chuck is hugely sponsored by XX78's....the article reflects that. Take it with a grain of salt. Other articles are written by other "celebs" rebuking what Chuck writes. Whose right and whose wrong? Neither, it's about whose paying the bills.

Yeah i guess so, but if you or anyone was to go to aluminum would you go with the XX75's or the XX78's?
Or those of you that do shoot aluminum, what do you shoot?

I think Chuck is just telling us why "he" prefers Aluminum.
Easton makes carbon arrows too as well as owning Beman
Not sure they would "pay" him to specifically steer everyone away from carbon arrows?
I used aluminum arrows for many years and they worked fine, they still do.
Been shooting carbons for the last 5 years or so and they work also.
My advise would be to try both and see which ones work best for you and your set up.

That is just a theory. But I would say Chuck is the kind of guy that will stick with what works for him. I think he still shoots w/fingers??

I've always used aluminum arrows for hunting and will continue to do so. They work very well for their purpose and my set-up.
I would expect nothing less than you to be shooting thosegood ol' aluminum arrows...........if you ever switch to carbon arrows thenyou are officially required to turn in your TreBark camoflauge as well.

I shoot xx75's. For what I do I don't see the need to spend the extra money. I shoot thin walled ones to like 2213's and don't have any problems with arrows going bad on me. I don't shoot alot of 3-D either though.
For low poundage set ups I like the Platinums or Easton Jazz arrows.

The ICS hunters werent as straight as the cheapo fall stalkers tho they fly fine & about half shoot well with fixed blades. The cabellas I havent cut yet but theyre even less straight.
Bought the carbons because I was ruining arrows on 3D shoots & theyre definately more durable.
I'll see what happens but I may still use my 2219's for hunting.
Almost seems the great trend towards mechs was caused by the swing towards carbons.
One things for sure, if I need to spend $150 a dozen to get STRAIGHT carbons it'll never happen.

My opinion is that you will get more straighter arrows from a dozen quality aluminums than you will a dozen all carbons in almost all instances. Perhaps the same thing with aluminum/carbons vs aluminums too. All I know is that I will never return to all carbons, been shooting aluminum/carbons now for the last two seasons and like them much better, for the reason of weight(better penetration) and overall accuracy in hunting scenarios. I'd like to add that I never shot groups as good with a new dozen all carbon arrows as I used to with a new dozen aluminums.
I would have no problem returning to XX78's or even XX75s for hunting.

I shoot a 100 grain tip 60# and a 25inch draw so what arrow size (in aluminum) would you recommend.
I also was wondering if the XX78's are that much better than the XX75's?

I bought the stalkers originally for practice but got very confident with them to the point last year I hunted with them & game getters in the same quiver.

Bought some carbons recently but I'v always used Alluminum before, XX78, XX75 & cheapo fall stalkers. The carbons I got were a dozen Beeman & a dozen cabellas.

Comparing Aluminums to Bemans is like comparting a Porsche to a Honda Civic.
