I believe my nonresident tags for Illinois came out to 443.00 last year...of course, that is only part of the expense of an out-of-state hunt.

I'm too tight to hunt out of state...and I'm lucky enough to have plenty of land in NC to hunt, full of deer, turkeys, squirrels, rabbits, etc...

I'm so tight, I don't even know what an in state licence costs, bought my lifetime for NC back in '83....I think it was $300 for hunting/fishing/big game/primitive weapons...

The most I have ever paid was 775 for a New Mexico elk tag. That will change if I ever draw a sheep tag. So far 5 states for 8 years and no luck.

I am sure it is going up this year, but last year in IL, it was $365 for the deer tag, I think $50 for nonres huntin permit, $5 for habitat stamp and $13.50 for handling fees. I might be off a couple bucks here and there but that is close.

I know it is rediculas but I have permission to hunt private ground and there are some bruisers in that area. Plus I am usually over there at least once a week, only a 45 min drive.

I hunt the archery season in Connecticut and the license for out of staters is $100.00. It allows me to start my archery season a month earlier than in my home state of Massachusetts,

For turkeys this spring, I spent $550 (all expenses, tags, gas, food, lodging, etc.) hunting both wyoming and south dakota. This was a 8 day 2500 mile round trip. 3 of us drove from Missouri. You cant get much cheaper fo a trip than that.

Why states charge so much more for deer is crazy to me! This is why I can hunt at least 5 states for turkeys and only 2 at the most for deer.

$540 for my NR any elk tag in Wyoming. I think that's the only NR tag I've ever had to buy...
