I've asked this on a couple more boards, but I'd just like to get more opinions<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
ok, with my splitfire 36 I'm shootin 49 ft lbs of K/E.
with my darton maverick I'm shootin 62 ft lbs of K/E.
that is if i figured it right from bow jackson site.
I'm currently shootin rocket steelheads with 1 1/8" cut.
their fine for deer, but I would like a bigger head for turkey
huntin.
I'd like to shoot a 1 1/2" head, same brand and same model for
both deer and turkey.
I know I don't have enough K/E to shoot deer with that big of a
head, with my splitfire. but, would 49 lbs of K/E be ok for turkey?
I could use my darton for either game, and use my splitfire
for turkey only. I mainly just bowhunt for turkey now anyway.
first of all would this size head work ok using them the way i
mentioned above, and what 1 1/2" mechanical head would ya'll
recomend that i use? thanks

remember on turkeys getting a complete pass through is not your main goal! Pinning the wings is. There is 4 other shots that are deadly effective on the big bird, one of the other is along the lines of shooting above the hip. I've heard it works well but have yet to experience anyone doing it. The head on, center of the back, and the base of the tail in strut shots are the other three. If you are not leaving the arrow in, employ the use of a string tracker!!!
I am not into mech heads so I cant help ya there.
Also dont get wrapped up in the KE as it is over rated as pertaining to penetration!
