RE: Rocket Bunker Busters...Is it just me...
Then again, Matthews has been selling the same bowin different camo patterns and withdifferent (prettier)limbs/risersfor 10 years straight, raising the price every year, and there are still people lined up to get them. |
RE: Rocket Bunker Busters...Is it just me...
Greg - I'm allowed to say that - I've been hunting withthe sameone-cam bow for8 years now. I think I bought it in '99, and it's still faster than most of the '07 single-cams. Obviously, I never saw much need to "upgrade" to a new one, b/c they weren't any different than the one I already had. Same cam, different paint job and some rubber doo-dads stuck on it. If I wanted new paint that bad, I'd have just sprung for a can of Krylon.
Not saying they're bad bows at all. Just 10 year old technology. I'd still be hunting with mine this fall if I didn't beat the thing to death. |
RE: Rocket Bunker Busters...Is it just me...
Quick, I understood exactly what you're saying... Heck, I had a '99 Mathews MQ-1 for firve or six years for that very reason... every time they released a new bow, I'd go shoot it. I always came home with my MQ-1...
I still don't know if they've ever really improved on that bow -- and I evenowned a Switchback XT after I became a store shooter just so that I'd be shooting with the "latest, greatest" and hopefully influence some sales for the owner... |
RE: Rocket Bunker Busters...Is it just me...
Re-reading that post, I don't mean to insinuate Mathews doesn't make great bows; on the contrary, they certainly do. But I also know that I'm not alone in my thinking that the MQ-1 may have been their best ever. ;)

I know what ya mean... I think I took over 20 with mine before finally retiring her --including my biggest to date.
If you look real closely, you'll see her lying between this brute's legs... ![]() OK... have we sufficiently hijacked this thread enough? LOL Bottom line... these new broadheads suck in our collective opinions... [8D]Just kidding! :D |

I beg to differ. Check out the review at : http://btreviews.proboards57.com/index.cgi#general
One of the best broadhead designs he's ever tested. I am presently deciding between Slick Tricks and Silver Flames....both of which work fantastic from my set up, but I plan on giving these a fair try as well.;) |
RE: Rocket Bunker Busters...Is it just me...
Interesting test that guy conducts. I've always thought using parts from a deer would yield the best test. The Bunker Busters definitely bust through bone, but the test doesn't yield a true penetration test. I'd like to see how far it penetrated ballistics gelatin compare to other broadheads.

ORIGINAL: txjourneyman Yeah, I could see where it could get slowed down in a hurry. I don't think I'd use them just on looks. |

I see your point, although the first criticism that folks using gelatin receive is, "yeah, but how does it work on a real animal?". The testing BT uses is very thorough....you have to have a heck of a broadhead to get a passing score. Spitfires consistently score the best in mechanical category. Slick Tricks, Bunker Busters, Turbos (now the Blitz) and Silver Flames are some of the best in the fixed replacement blade category. I always anxiously await his new tests. Best to ya....;) |
