I bought a bowmender press and Gibblet strings. I will continue to buy his strings as long as he makes them and I shoot a bow. As far as owning a press goes I feel much more ready to face any situation that may arise with my bow or that of friends. It is a must have for me.

I was in the same situation as yourself a few years back when Gibblet first got started ,but with gibb,s advice over the phone I was able to learn easily . I've now changed dzn's of string's on my own bow's and friend's bow 's . So it's really not a hard thing to do when you have such a person as Gibblet to giude you through it .

I'd go with buying a press from WWAG and buying your string's from Gibb and learning to do the work on your own . You'll enjoy learning to do all your own work ,and it'll definately save you travelling a repair cost's in the future .

I've known John for a few year's now and he's a great guy to deal with as well he'll take the time to talk to you on the phone a giude you step by step .

Here is the only problem with "buying" a bow press: The style of the bow has changed so much in the last 7 years that litterally most presses that are even just 2-3 years old cannot be used anymore. Try pressing a Drenalin on just about anything other than an X-press (or a copy of it), or what I am about to show you, and you will end up with a thread on broken limbs on the Drenalin (ever seen those before?). Lots of other bows are the same way. If you want to ruin your bow, you don't have to buy a bow press to do it, you can just dry fire it a whole bunch. Pressing a bow wrong, however, will do just as much if not more damage.

Here is the press I strongly recommened:

They ain't cheap, but they will press absolutely anything, and all it does it put about 1 or 2inches of pressure on the very tips of the limbs (just like drawing the bow does). You can press any kind of bow in this press (except an Onidea and maybe a monster; but all you need for those is two pegs on the wall). You can seriously press a bow with one finger in this press. Its money very well spent.
