RE: a pin for shots less than 20 yards?

I just did the ballistics for those to set ups, give or take. Your right TFOX, the bow shooting 315fps does drop 7 inches at 20 yards. That browning nomad I mentioned drops somwhere in the neiborhood of 22 inches. Just a tad bit of a differance there.

RE: a pin for shots less than 20 yards?

Yes,there is a difference but at 20 yards, the 1 pin will still hit the vitals of a deer.

There is about a 2 1/2" difference at the highest point of the arc.

Assuming the peep height is the same.

Here is the kicker. To hit dead on at 15 feet with the fast bow,you need to aim as though it was 43 yards. At 25 feet, you need to aim as though it was 26 yards.

The slow bow at 15 feet, you need to aim as though it is 18 yards. At 25 feet you need to aim as though it is 11 yards.;)

At 15 feet.the slow bow will hit closer than the fast bow.:D

Sure, there is a miss difference of a little more with the slow bow,not denying that.It just gets blown out of proportion.

You need to aim high or low with either and the amount of difference is very small due to sight paralax.

RE: a pin for shots less than 20 yards?

At 15 feet Ill believe that, but with the slower bow you almost need a seperate pin from the 10 to 20 yards. Like I said with the faster bow you can easialy use one pin out to 35 and hold dead on. That was the point I was making. I didnt relize we were talking about hitting something a few feet away. With any bow you should be able to hit within a couple of inches of the bullseye at 2 yards, and like you said TFOX thats in the vitals.

You might want to read the title of the thread before you respond.[8D]

Like I said, with the slower bow you would need a seperate pin for 10 yards. Thats unless you want to hit several inches high using you 20 yard pin. And as I stated earlier also, using the faster bow you can use one pin dialed in at 35 yards and hit within an inch or so at 10yards. I did read the title of the thread smart guy, I guess I was wrong when I asumed by less then 20 yards they ment 10yards.I didnt realize that so many people shoot that often at 3 yards, not to mention compare trajectories and differant bows at that distance. At three yards it really doesnt matter your speed like you said, hell you could use a sling shot and kill something at 3 yards. I was comparing the differance in trajectory between the two bows at 10 yards using a 20 yard pin. Hell at three yards there isnt much of a trajectory, the arrow is just starting to stabilize at that distance.

I bet you shoot a tad low at 1 yard with your 20 yard pin.

i should have entitled the post "pins" for under twenty yards, since i meant anything less then a twenty yard shot (1 yard to 19 yards) thanks guys.

Aloha All ,
I have to chime in on this one.I shoot a 2000 Martin dual cam , 65 pound draw weight, aluminum arrows, wraps with 100 grain broadheads. I need a 10 yard pin if I want to hit the heart of a pig . I have a two inch drop from 10 to 20 yards so I like the two pins, on the $$$$;)
A friend has a newer Reflex and carbon arrows. He needs no ten yard pin because his 20 and 10 yard groupimg are so close, less than an inch .
So I believe some bows do need a extra pin , or just aim hi .
Interesting question:)

That is about right,I said the 200 fps bow would be 2 1/2" different at 10 yards than the fast bow.
