I take a lot of under 20 yds shots, some even under 10, I set my pin such that for my tight in expected shots, I don't need to aim any differently, which actually ends up zeroing my 1st pin at about 18 yds.

I have pins, but don't really use them for much other than left/right alignment. After you shoot a bow so many times, you know where the arrow is going.

Anyone who uses pins should go out and practice enough to know which pin or where to hold their single pin on various distances and various scenarios.jmo.I'm not trying to argue or fight with anyone,i'm just saying get to know your gear!:)
That is exactly why i did hold my pin as stated, "hardly" low. I knew that my bow hadhardly anydrop from shooting at 10 yards with my "twenty" yard pin. Just wanted to see if anyone had a pin for under 20 yards. Thanks KP

I'm no expert but I agree with the know your own bow concept if the bow is tuned properly. For me, I only use one pin that I have sighted in dead on at 15-20 yards. Anything less in yardage, I aim a little lower. Anything higher in yardage, I aim a little higher (to my personally determined max of 25 yards.) I practice at many different close ranges to get the feel of what I'll need to do for a very close shot.

Contrary to what someone said earlier, speed has alot to do with not needing a pin for close distance. With the added speed of todays bows the arc of the arrow isnt near as much as compared to bows of say twenty years ago. Take an old compound bow say a browning nomad shooting a 500 grain arrow. Im not sure of the exact speed but should be around about 180fps give or take. With that bow shooting at a 10 yard target with your 20 yard pin I garentee you will hit at least a few inches high. Now flash forward to the present. Take a Bowtech allegiance shooting a 350 grain arrow at 315fps, you can have a pin sighted dead on at 35 yards and there wont be but maybe an inch or two at the most difference in impact at ten yards using that pin.

passthru, the speed bow you just gave us will drop 7 inchesat 20 yards.;)

Sight paralax, along with the fact that the bow is pointed upward makes it SEEM it is shooting flat.

I have a feeling I am not done explaining this one.[8D]

TFOX, I know it seems flatter than what it is because its aimed upwards. Regardless of what it may seem the newer faster bow still shoots a whole lot flatter than the old nomad does.
