Most of what was posted is false rumor. The deer was shot legally during shotgun season and the DNR has not confiscated it. It was on display at the Iowa Whitetail Classic (and no, it wasn't in the DNR booth). I think Whittaker Taxidermy did the mount and has a picture on their website. It is a very nice deer but not a record.

I've seen about 10 that size in my lifetime. Problem is I was sleeping during every one of the "sightings".

What a monster.

I hope that is the truth, because that would be a shame if that monster fell under shady circumstances. That thing is a giant. The mass and beam length is incredible.

Well, that is open to debate. During my misspent youth I was convicted of felony assault. It was 25 yrs ago but none the less I am a convicted felon. I legally own and hunt with a black powder double barrel shotgun. I also own and hunt with a BP .50 cal. rifle. I have contacted the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms. As long as the gun is a percussion or flintlock sidelock it is legal.
