Actually, in Wi a convicted in felon or anyone on probation is not allowed to purchase, house, or carry any type of firearm, this including bows and arrows.

Ever heard of a bow and arrow? Convicted fellons can legally hunt they just can't do it with a gun. I'm sure that just like in every other state that archery gear is legal in gun season.
A firearm by definition is powered by an explosive charge of some sort .... Bow and Arrow is not a firearm
The definition varies, but some places define firearm as anything that casts a projectile reguardless of themeans of propulsion. This would include archery gear unfortunatly.

We may have a loop hole here then ...... firearm .... uses fire or explosion to send a projectile forward ... let's see what Mr. Webster says ...

FI'REARMS, n. plu. Arms or weapons which expel their charge by the combustion of powder, as pistols, muskets, &c.

Yes Preach you're right, but the law defines it differently in some locals, I wouldn't tell a lie.

In Wi a bow and arrow is considered a firearm, not sure why....if you get causght shooting your bow in town even target shooting, you can get fined for discharging a firearm within city limits. Therefore archery equipment is considered a firearm...damned dnr and lawmakers.

In Florida a firearm uses an explosion for propulsion .
A gun launches a projectile , slingshots and bows fit this category .
