It's about time for a new bow. I have been shooting an HCA for several years and am partial to them but cannot find a local dealer that caries them to try out. While out shooting with some buddies I had the chance to shoot a Bowtech. I really liked the bowas it shot very well. Itwas worlds of diffrence from my HCA. I didn't care for the "jump" when almost to full draw. I don't know if this is normal of the Bowtech or PL bows butjust felt like the draw was not smooth as I was expecting.
I wanted to get some opinions on two bows impaticular from guys that have shot them. The first is the Ross Cardiac and the second is the Martin Pantera.Can you give me some insight on how the bows perform.Is there possibly something you can compare them too? Thanks

Ross would be my choice because they are great bows. The customer service is top notch and the attention to detail is EXCELLENT. I don't know what to compare them to besides Mathews. The draw is much smoother compared to the Bowtech. I guess you could describe it as a "fast smooth bow". I should be getting mine around the first of May or so. I have no experience with Martin whatsoever but I'm sure you could speak to RickJames about them.I can't begin to describe what a great company Ross is. If you have the opportunity to shoot them both definately do so. Cardiac's are on major backorder though. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me.

i've got my first martin - a chameleon green slayerx (shoot thru). i'm getting awful fond of it.

Both are great bows to be honest, the Ross's have a much nicer fit and finish to them than the Martin Pantera, but the Martin has a much nicer price tag, is super quiet, super smooth, and fairly quick too. To be honest, they really aren't in the same category in my opinion though, the Pantera is a mid tier bow geared towards the crowd that doesn't want to spend $700 on a bow but still wants all the features. The Cardiac is pure top shelf bow with all the bells and whistles. The Pantera is also 2" longer than the Ross. Martin and their sister company Rytera have other options that are a much better direct comparison of high end bows withcloser specs than the Pantera ifcomparing to a Cardiac.

If you want something more comparable to the Cardiac, take a look at the Rytera Bullet X with the Vipro single cam if you want smooth, or the nitrous X cam if you want speed. Specs are much closer to the cardiac on that bow and it is more of a top line bow. The Pantera is a bow that is designed to have amost of the features of a high end bow with a really really good price tag. MSRP on the pantera is several hundred dollars less than the cardiac, however the Bullet X is comparable. Rytera is made by Martin, designed and built by the same people and it is positioned as apremium line of high end only bows, there are no budget bows in the Rytera line as of now.

With all that said, I am shooting a bengal right now for hunting and absolutely love it!

Germ has good advice, get a hold of the Ross, and Martin and actually shoot them. You can't go wrong either way, both are great options from good US based companies with great service.

Never shot the martin, Im sure they are good bows I just dont care for them. I just got my Cardiac last week and I can honestly say it is by far the best bow I have owned to date. Ive shot Browning, Darton, Mathews, Bowtech, Hoyt and in my opinion Ross has them all beat with the new cardiac. If you want a super smooth, fast, almost dead silent bow then check one out.

I have only shot one Martin - a 70 lb. Jaguar. Was at an archery shop that has and indoor range about a month ago. A guy came in and started shooting a couple of lanes down. After awhile we started talking and wound up swapping bows for a few minutes. I shot five arrows into a group about the size of golf ball - waspretty impressed for an unfamiliar bow that didn't cost $800.
