Default Pa lengthens shooting time?

It has been proposed that the legal hunting hours in Pabe changed to 1/2 hr after sunset, it used to beuntil sunset. I think this will encourage folks to take less than desireable shots due to lack of light, resulting in lost deerand possibly making it more dangerous for hunters as well. What are your thoughts on this?

I personally don't have a problem with it, there is still plenty of light 1/2 hour after the official time for sunset.

I ABSOLUTELY agree with changing that rule. Most days I could shoot to a 100yds looking through a peep sight at sunset.
Heck it seems like the hard pressured deer in my neck of the woods don't even set their alarm clocks for a minute before sunset once the season opens.
I would rather my own ethics, common sense and ability dictate when my hunting is over for teh day.

IMO it was/is the silliest rule there is to allow shooting 1/2 BEFORE sunset and not 1/2hr AFTER.
There are days when I can't see my watch at 1/2hr before sunrise.

At certain times, during our season (and I'm on the same coast PA guys are).....we ARE able to hunt 30 minutes after sunset (the time set forth by the charts). There ARE times when someone could hunt AFTER 30 minutes after sunset.

It's been the law (this way....30 min. after sunset) in NC for as long as I can remember. If people are going to be unethical.......this law isn't going to help them.

I honestly thought PA's laws concerning this mirrored ours.

It won't really affect the hunting much, b/c most guys hunted until it was dark anyway. That rule was so stupid that most guys just ignored it. That's the hot rumor at least. [:-]

It jsut makes sense. Its finally a good rule.

IF a guy is going to take a low light shot, he was already doing so before the rule change.

I agree with the rule change. If you only hunt until sunset you could be out of your stand, packed up, and back at the car without ever needing a flashlight on most days. It cut out the prime times for deer movement. Even with it being 1/2 hour after sunset there will be days when there is still plenty of "shooting light" after hunting hours expire. Good move IMO.
