Default 3d shoot

[blockquote]Went to my first 3d shoot today . I didn't realize allthe fun i was missing it was a blast. I think i did fair i'm not sure i scored a 250 . Not sure if that is good , bad , or average ? Next time i think i will be able to shoot better because there were a lot of animals i wasnt familiar with where the center shot was . They had a jaguar, alligator ,small pig and i'm not making this up a small stegasoraus . I had no idea where the shot should be on one of those. Anyway it was a great time i wish i checked it out sooner can't wait till next time [/blockquote]

A good set of binos will help on those unfamiliar targets.

It is alot of fun andI am trying to get back into it but I am having trouble finding the time. When I get the time, there isn't a local shoot.[:@]

Lol you sound funny telling us about the targets. Thoes are pretty typical at least all the places I went to had them. 250 sounds great but what was perfect becaseu some places shoot differently. A hint to find the 12 spot when you go get your arrows look for the next target walk up to it and look close and pick out markers on it that you know you can see from the line and then you can get a corrdinate of sorts as to where the 12 is. It is a lot of fun

Amen to that. I won an $80 gift card to Gander Mountain in a 5-spot league and bought a pair of Nikon 8X25 binocs.

I just shot my 2nd ever 3D shoot and scored 403. There were 40 targets scoring on the 11/10/8/5/0 scale. (not sure what that's called)

I shot pretty well in my first shoot but was blind, on targets more than 20yds, I just shot where I thought I should hit and it turned out ok.

Had ALOT more confidence yesterday because I could actually see where I needed to shoot.

The 3d is great practice...
I have shot some that allow for use of binos / range finders. Some that do not.
They are a ton of fun though...
I prefer to do them w/out the use of binos & range finders... I try not to get caught up on score, but I have to admit I do get pretty competitive... with myself mostly.
I like the practice for deer season. That is ultimately why I shoot them.

Both shoots I have been in so far allow the use of bino's but not rangefinders.

I would like to shoot sometime where I could use my rangefinder but at the same time, like the challenge of figuring out the distance on my own. It helps to know that in the bowhunter class the targets are 20-35yds. Takes some of the guess work out.

i'll get some binoculars next time .this had 30 targets not 40 and the scoring was 12,10,8,5 and 0 for missing . i thought this was standard or does it vary from place to place

That's what most of ours are here in MO, but i have shot one where the high is a 10. I think it varies on the place. Some go by different rules.

I been to four this year, never went before.
2 of them scored 12/10/8 & 5 & the other 2 scored 10/8 & 5
I'd say thats a good score, my best so far was 238 I think. Its great fun & I'v been bringing my boys, 8 & 10 years old. No dinasaurs but alot of exotics. I dont worry much about the score, I try & kill the critter.
Alot are at an angle & a 12 point score at a quatering away deer dont do it for me, I just cant shoot that far forward.
I did order a dozen carbons tho, my alluminums dont take the abuse well. Only bent 2 this week but burned 6 last week. Worst was shooting clean over a dang buffalo 50 yards out. [&:]
The carbons seem almost indestructable.
